    Beadlock wheels

I've been running them for 18 months and haven't had any failures, leaks, or issues. That said, I do have a full matching spare so that if one does pop bolts or leak, I don't have to monkey with fixing it while out in the wild. :) Next time I will get regular wheels though. No more beadlocks...

    Beadlock wheels

I'm running a set of used AEV beadlocks. They have been reliable (holding air, etc.). Beadlocks are heavy and I can have lost some HP and MPG because of them. I don't think they are ideal for road driving, but being able to air down is comforting if you happen to get stuck and are alone. They...

    External ladders and safety

I think I would notice if someone was crawling up my ladder in the middle of the night. The rig might "rock" and whatnot. There might be some sounds involved. Some "thumping" maybe. If I'm not in the rig, then I'm at home. You have to believe that your rig is safe at home. If it isn't, then you...

HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

A little progress. Found a set of four 8-lug, 17 inch wheels and Toyo MTs for a screaming deal on CL. After sitting around for a couple of weeks I decided to move the Toyos to the Jeep (never, ever volunteer to do your own bead-lock work) and move the Jeep's KM2s to the van. Decided to have the...

Alu-cab awning concern, looking for some insight based on my purchase

I tend to believe the explanation about the missing reinforcement pad. I went out for three nights in very wet weather. And, the stitching around all the reinforcement pads WILL leak during a downpour. Not a big deal. It's still dryer than when you are not under the awning. :)

    My “New” ‘87 E250

Yeah. That's a heck of a deal for a running 4WD van! Congrats!

New spare tire bag final testing!

Interesting. Personally, the only thing I carry on the outside of my rig is garbage...and maybe iso bottles. What do you plan to charge for them? I've always felt that the brand I have now is a big too big for my needs.

Anyone Running Nitto Ridge Grappler 37x11.50s?

I'm interested in this too. Need to put tires on the van....but might like to try something tall and slim this time.

    2003 e350 Ford 4x4 van value

Nice looking rig. I am not knowledgable-enough to help you with an evaluation...but can I ask what rims you are running? Are they stock steel at 16X7 or Vintique at 16x8 or 10?

HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

Thanks. I've been looking around for a high top. Can't decide if I'd rather have a high top or popup. I'll probably take whichever I find locally. Part of the reason I bought the van is to stop messing around with my Jeep RTT....so a popup might be the best option for me.

Good! Thanks, and I agree. Right now I'm thinking about some 17 inch rims to move my KM2s from the Jeep to the van. Then I could put some KM3s on the Jeep.

HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

Today I installed the new driver and passenger side window channels, belt strips (inner & outer) and power window motors. Everything works. I have to tell you that it is like driving a different rig when the windows work! I had to order some parts to repair the power door lock motors. Until they...

I appreciate your time to post all this as well. Going to apply some of your methods to an '87 Ford Van. (y)

    Camp stove

If you want a small, portable charcoal grill Snow Peak makes an awesome one. I use it every time I go out. Only big enough for two people IMO. They do have one that is twice the size, but it has no cover. Last week I slow-grilled two filet mignon steaks on it. Totally awesome. (y)

    Snow Peak Addiction

I love my riser and use it on every trip! Great piece of kit! Much easier to get the coals going (and faster).

Swapping cig plug for Anderson connectors

IMO fuses are your friend. They prevent fires first and equipment damage second. I would put a nice, neat, soldered & heat-shrinked 8A fuse as close to the Anderson connector as you can. No use in second-guessing the engineer that designed your Dometic. When a fuse blows, it's your chance to...
