HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

No pictures, but I have taken care of a few important things: Had the van aligned and replaced the Pitman arm ball joint. There is much less play in the steering now. Rotated the tires (doesn't look to have been done in years). Installed a new steering stabilizer Nearly finished with rebuilding...

Toilet Solution for LONG TERM Overlanding trips

I'm been starting to use the Cleanwaste in the last couple of months to get a feel for the bag system while deciding if I want to get the Wrappon toilet for my new van. I was worried that it would be gross. Guess what! All these options are gross and the Cleanwaste isn't too bad. I'm getting...

Looking to design the ultimate SUV Sleep-in-Vehicle setup

I would be willing to give you $1400.00 U.S. for Mobicamp, provided that it will physically fit in my 1987 Ford Econoline van. Keep in mind that I will still need some room for my NL fridge/freezer and I plan to purchase a Wrappon toilet system, which will need to be assimilated into the bench...

Looking to design the ultimate SUV Sleep-in-Vehicle setup

Hmmm. Someone is very good at generating computer graphics. Seems like marketing to me. I'd like to see some of these concepts after being prototyped and photographed in real-life cars/vans/SUVs. When is that likely to happen? If a product doesn't actually exist, I think this post should be...

    Snow Peak Addiction

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. :) I'm not interested in making it removable, and I don't want to monkey around with the legs. IMO the IGT would be much more popular in N.A. if they had made the legs foldable instead of separate. I'm thinking about a huge drawer, 48 inches long-ish , appr...

    Snow Peak Addiction

Well, I bought an older 4WD van and am toying with the idea of mounting an IGT4 on 48 inch drawer slides (under the bed and opening out the rear doors). This would allow me to keep the GS-220, CK-130, and CK-050 in there full-time and use the CK-050 as a sink for doing dishes (as well as...

    FOUND Vans For Sale!

Lol, that one is fairly local, meaning I've seen it on CL. I just bought a Quadravan with the same motor and tranny (normal length) and mine gets 9 MPG. I'll bet that monster gets 6!!!

Thanks. I found some online, but I'd rather buy them locally if possible. Will check the local Auto stores tomorrow.

HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

Anybody know what these are called, and where to get them? The local Ford dealer didn't seem to have a clue. This connects the arm of the factory door lock silenoid to the door lock mechanism. I'm pretty sure that several of them have broken (and verified that one has failed). The dealer told...

I really wanted to name the van "PigSquatch". Darned Wife won't have it.

HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

Hi All, Well, my Darling Wife finally allowed me buy the flavor of rig that I've desired since the beginning of my whole "Overland" obsession. A 4X4 Van. She noticed what seemed to be what she refers to as an "off-road van" on the side of the highway while on the way home this week. She called...

    Boomer the Quadravan 4x4 Camper

Epic build thread dude. What has happened to Boomer in 2018? I purchased an '87 Quadravan today....and am therefore extremely interested in what you are doing with Boomer. You have a really cool rig!

Need advice on an 87 E350 Pathfinder for sale...quickly!

Hi All, I've been eyeing 4X4 vans for years. A 1987 E350 Pathfinder is available down the road. Here is a spec sheet and a picture. I haven't seen the inside yet, but am meeting the fellow tomorrow. He seems like a really nice guy that has owned the van for 8 years. Offered to let me take it for...

Anyone have any experience with the James Baroud Eco Bag or RTT Luggage Bag?

I agree with this. Keep a heavy-duty black trash bag in the Trasharoo (and the lid closed during rainy days) and it is no problem. I've left mine on the Jeep 365 days a year for two years. Still works. Keep a full roll of the trash bags in the bottom. Best place to store them IMO. To be fair I...

    RTT for tall people

I can't justify the price, but I REALLY like mine. And, I only paid about $3500.00 for it (closeout/demo model from OK4WD). A hardshell tent (in my opinion): is much easier and faster to dry out that a full canvas tent holds more sleeping gear than my canvas Eezi-Awn tent (and my solar panels...

SPOT Announces New Device: spotX (two-way with a keyboard!)

I'm very interested to see how this works out. I like my Delorme, but it needs a qwerty keyboard to be perfect. I have a feeling that Garmin will never head in that direction. Replaceable batteries would be good as well. Does anyone know if there will be a "minimum" monthly plan like the...

    RTT for tall people

If you are thinking about hard-shell tents, James Baroud is making some XXL models now. I wish I had one, but not enough to replace my current Baroud. :) They look to be about 89 inches long...but will be wider than your roof rack or fiberglass top on a JK.
