    RTT Questions

I was nervous about that too. The ladder on my Mombasa felt much more stable than I expected, and I'm 6'5" 300+.

    RTT Questions

We got the 71x94 Mombasa from TRDParts4U earlier this year and have been very happy with it. We keep the original mattress pad, an additional eggshell style mattress pad, 2 sleeping bags, and a couple blankets with no issues at all. We've tried keeping the pillows in there too, but that seemed...

    Small Garage, Big Project

Very nice. I had contemplated building something similar, but found a deal on an M416 I couldn't pass up.

    Big guy clothing?

Go to a big and tall shop. I'm 6'5" and upwards of 300lbs and have no problems finding clothes at big and tall shops. It may not be the fanciest "adventure clothing" out there, but it will suffice.

what #/force rating for gas springs on lid ?

I'd bet it's closer to double that. My RTT alone weighs 140, another 150 or so for the lid. I have 2 225lb springs on mine and it works well. The greater vertical separation between your mounting points the more efficient the springs will be and your diagram shows MUCH less vertical...

My 'Back Country' trip through Colorado

I think we saw that same red Dodge when we were down there in August but it was pulling some side x sides. Loud as all hell. Saw it in Telluride and Silverton. The "boss's house" was actually the brothel, lol. We came to loathe the majority of the rentals we ran into down there as well...

Start soaking stuff in PB Blaster or your other favorite penatrating oil and it will make things much easier.

Any smoke or rough starts? Does plugging in the block heater have an impact?

    Imogene Pass Run

We ran into a guy running it when we were up there last month. Absolutely nuts! I got winded just walking 50 yards uphill near the summit to help out a guy who's Xterra was running funny. Congrats on making it, I can honestly say that is something I would never even attempt to do.

    RTT strange thought...

Storing the top when the tent is deployed would be kind of a pita.
  13. BigDaveZJ

    Well, that ended badly..

You can see the trailer jacks on the back of mine. Pull the pin, flip 'em down into position, and it's a drop leg too. Adjust as needed. They make a LOT less noise than I thought they would going down the trail.

    M416 w/ roof top tent?

I just made a lid and mounted the tent to that. Easy access to the tub, and it keeps my gear dry in heavy rain too.

    grand cherokee??

Yup. The 249 case in ZJ's is prone to viscous coupler failures. However, the failure itself isn't typically one that will leave you problems. There is some slip in the coupler to allow the front and rear driveshafts to spin at slightly different speeds making it easier to turn the vehicle...

M416 brake lever, tail lights, and axle

Also have the original taillight housings available now too. Its just the housings as I'm using the L brackets to mount my aftermarket lights. I'll get pics up tonite. $50 shipped to the lower 48.

M416 brake lever, tail lights, and axle

Have these parts that I pulled off my trailer before the build. Brake lever is in pretty good shape. Axle could certainly use a clean up and some fresh paint, but it worked well for the short pull home from the previous owner's house. Brake lever $50 shipped to the lower 48. Axle $75...

WJ Owners: What do you dream of owning

TnT did make a couple WJ long arm kits, my buddy Keith was one of the prototype rigs for it. I don't think they ever really went to market with it though.

WJ Owners: What do you dream of owning

I ran Clayton's with 33's for a couple years on my ZJ. Occasionally yeah I might hit the arms, but it's been a rare occurrence that the arms actually kept me from going up something. The only time I really hit them where it kept me from going up something on 33's was the far left line on the...
