Agree. Most of the Kokopelli is pretty tame. You might have a couple issues with approach and departure (front/rear) digging into the sand, but otherwise it's pretty simple. I say this because I did it with a Taco that "struggled" with those issues- but really didn't struggle at all.

Depending on which GPX of RR you downloaded, it may have been the one I was on during the logging. And yes, that campground was empty when we went by it in early June- although we camped in the forest about a mile or so before.
I've seen this done before. My question for you is:
Do you still use the hatch? Do the lift struts hold it up after a couple days worth of trash in it?
I have a Trasharoo but so far I've only used it on my Explorer (with an expensive custom rear bumper with a swingout tire carrier). I'd like...
I regeared my a Explorer- made a huge difference. It's almost sporty on the street. And in 4lo, I've only come across a few hills where I need the brake while going down.
I've seen several mentions of "occasional" pin striping. I think most are coming from people in the desert southwest. Here in the Rockies, pin striping is mandatory. This is my "mid-size" Explorer:
So don't come to the Rockies thinking you'll fit down all those Jeep trails. You won't. But...
You'll rarely use a front locker. Unless you do a lot of snow wheeling.
I have a Truetrac in the front of my Explorer. I guess it works. That's the beautiful thing about Truetracs- they are so invisible. I just go.
Even if you do make it unscathed, it'll be stressful. My Explorer (size of a Cherokee) feels big from time to time here in Colorado.
Having a 3/4 ton will limit your options. You should still have plenty to see.
Question for you Kurt:
On this South America trip you guys just did, what would be the bare minimum for vehicle requirements to cover those same miles?
Forget about the need to haul people and gear in that vehicle. What is the "minimum" 4 wheeled vehicle that could have tagged along? So far I...
Big fat truck sidewalls = white lettering. Low profile sportscar sidewalls = black.
True the white lettering gets a little beat up when used offroad a lot, but my 5 year old BFGs that are used almost exclusively offroad still look pretty good.
120 miles of this on the Rim Rocker:
It even changed color:
This is my wheel well before the snorkel. See how you can see the engine:
The dust I was sucking into my intake wasn't from the vehicle in front of me- it was my own right front tire.
