Gen 2.5 blew my engine, replacement engine prep question

Are you talking about rebuilding the engine that is currently in the truck? Doubt that would work too well being you said there were metal and oil bits all over the road. Sounds like you ventilated the block which isn't a good thing - nor rebuildable.

Is your gen 1crap on the highway

My SWB '88 cruises along at highway speed without shakes. Power becomes an issue. Not very aero. All the steering components have been replaced / rebuilt as well as the front wheel bearings within the last 5K miles or so - so its tight.

    Quick Question - Lockers

some Gen 2 SRs and some Gen 2.5 Endeavor Editions need to check for the stickers and pump. Its not clear cut really. My '93 SR did not come factory with a locker & my '92 was retrofitted for instance. Can be retrofitted in all. Gen 3 option would be an ARB. There were also in some Montero...

Seattle to the Darien Gap in a sub $5,000 Toyota - What would you buy?

Wrong Washington, no affiliation. Factory rear air locker and locking transfer case. Slap on a set of 33" tires - no lift needed. There is your $5k. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/4758940519.html

Oil Leak Nightmare ( could use some suggestions )

Can you see it coming out from under the plastic timing belt cover? If so, sounds like a cam seal. If this is the case, make sure to slap in another new timing belt if its wet from oil. Oil is not so good for them.

Looks like you have a power seat on the driver side. Agreed - those sit terrible after the foam wears out. The manual seats with good foam are actually quite comfortable.

    Cold climate Montero Owners

adding heat to the seats isn't too bad of an upgrade. I put in kits from Amazon in both the '92 & '93. About $50 for each truck to do the front buckets. 12F this morning. Glad I did the upgrade, especially after returning from Bangkok yesterday - Was 95F there.

    Gen 3 diesel swap

Not really sure what would be different between a RHD vs a LHD engine. Maybe throttle cable & wiring harness placement - although I'm pretty sure the 4M41-CR would be drive by wire... I have a JDM (RHD) 4D56 in my LHD gen 1. That swap was very straight forward.

    Gen 3 diesel swap

4M41 CR - I'm looking this week. (currently in Thailand) Diesels everywhere here, some type of tax break on diesel SUVs & Pickups here, so a gas engine is much less common in these vehicles. The Pajero is locally built here right outside of Bangkok, so Mitsu diesels are very common. And by the...

Why do my interior lights pulse like a disco ball gone bad?

Didn't read back in the whole thread, but did you check integrity and tightness / clean the battery ground cable connection to the frame and engine?
