My trailer idea - does anyone make something similar?

Nice design, very similar to what I had in mind except I'd reduce by about 1/3rd and hinge the other way. Great concept. RBE's pod is the closest thing I have seen to what I have in mind. Bob has everything in there - even a shower and toilet. I wish I had some photos to post.

My trailer idea - does anyone make something similar?

Yes, similar to that although with a deeper "tub" and sturdier canvas. Thanks for the link!

My trailer idea - does anyone make something similar?

I see a small camping trailer in my future and have been napkin-sketching some ideas. I've come up with a fairly simple live-in style design and I can't seem to find anyone who currently builds something similar. I'm curious if there is a specific reason why this design wouldnt work? I dont...

    LR3 thermostat housing assembly replacement

Hey Kraig, awesome write up! Glad to see people working on these at home. They are actually much easier to work on that a lot of the older vehicles. For tricky o-rings, I used to give them a light coating of clear silicon paste before reinstall. Helps everything go back together easily without...

Let's discuss offroad adventure and "Gucci" vehicles

tommudd, I think you understand what I'm saying. If I pack my fridge with steaks and beer, load up some topo maps on the tablet, and hit the trail exploring for 2 nights in the roof tent before making it home for sunday dinner... I don't call that an expedition. It's camping/exploring/traveling...

Let's discuss offroad adventure and "Gucci" vehicles

He does have a good point though. Extreme car camping does not equal "expedition". A large number of people seem to be afflicted by what I call the Indiana Jones Syndrome or Livingstone Disease. Delusions of grandeur... wearing $400 worth of Filson gear while sipping espresso from a snow peak...

    2016 Defender

Hah. This is only going to get worse before it gets better. We are about due for a "new" fake now, all of the circulating ones are at least a few months old. By the way, to take a stab at it I think we will see a new Discovery (LR4 replacement) in fall 2015, and then maybe a new Defender in...

This is being sold by Creed Evans, former owner of Big Sky Rovers in Montana. I recommend a thorough internet search before one would decide to do business with this individual.

Truck Bed Liner vs Powder Coating Your Plate Bumpers and Armor

Brake clean and a lint free rag. I have had great luck with Krylon in a can. I painted an entire utility shell for an 8 foot bed F350, mounted on the truck, while street parked in the city. When done and after a few touch ups (light sand and respray here or there), it looked great. I used...

    Snow wheeling with tire chains?

You do get what you pay for with tire chains. Look for the high quality European brands. I'm a big fan of Pewag. Cheep chinese tire chains will break, tear things up, and cause a huge headache when you're stuck in a 4 foot drift over an icy creak with a broken cross chain or side chain. For...

Truck Bed Liner vs Powder Coating Your Plate Bumpers and Armor

Since when is powdercoat easy to touch up? Rattle can spraypaint is and always has been the best solution for something like this, because thats what it was designed for. Note, any type of surface finish on aluminum works best with a self etching primer.

Strange oil pressure gauge behaviour on Land Rover 110 200Tdi - need advice!

The ground connections in the dashboard are notoriously questionable on Defenders. In fact, the entire dash harness in general can be problematic. Start checking resistance to ground first - even better if you can do a load test. check the earth connections where the dash harness terminates.

    Snow wheeling with tire chains?

Snow wheeling with chains is awesome. Understand that there is a much different driving technique. Wheel spin is not your friend - you can easily throw chains off and get them tangled in the bodywork/chassis of the vehicle. Low speed, steady momentum, easy throttle, let it claw and pull.

    Warn M8000 SDP

You would spend a lot of money buying all of the parts from Warn. It would be a quick and easy job for a machine shop to shorten the drum/hex shaft/tie bars. In fact you could do it all at home if you're handy enough and have a grinder, welder, drill, and tap set.

    12V chainsaw

Are any of the rechargeable saws available with a 12V-powered charger (for installation in a vehicle?) I have always been a traditional chain saw guy but always hate the attention it draws when fired up in the woods. The practically silent electric saw would be a huge draw for me. Very...
