    LR3 Transmission service flush

There's no way to drain the converter on the ZF trans in the LR3

Is the Pro 4x Worth it?

I just want to chime in to say that the Xterra is 10 times better looking than any FJ Cruiser :) Overbloated bulbous things they are

    Found a unique looking Defender

Thanks for the correction Doug, I was thinking grey market as imported when new, before the change in regulations in the late 80s.

Is the Pro 4x Worth it?

Lack of front suspension articulation could be overcome with a front locker for a lot less money than changing vehicles :) I really like my Xterra - have a hard time finding much fault with it. If I had to pick a gripe, it would probably be with the interior... its pretty boring (just a sea of...

Is the Pro 4x Worth it?

So you're saying it's worth paying an additional $4k up front for a (weak) rear locker, versus paying $1500 for a (better) ARB installed? The gearing point really depends on what tire size you go with. I am factory geared (3.36?) C200 with tall 33's and am not looking to re-gear.

Is the Pro 4x Worth it?

Nice rig Steve. Which rear bumper is that?

Is the Pro 4x Worth it?

That may be true but the C200 is quite strong in it's own right. I have not heard of many broken C200s... however I have heard of a lot of broken OEM lockers in the M226?

Is the Pro 4x Worth it?

I went down this road before buying my Xterra - and I decided against the Pro4x. Upgraded suspension - I'm changing that anyways Skid plates- there are better options Gears - minimal difference Rear locker - not worth extra $4k on its own. I will install an ARB for $1k instead The Pro4x is...

    Found a unique looking Defender

This is a mid/late 80s 90 that has been imported... possibly grey market but not likely. (the silver grille + headlight surrounds scream English to me) The G4 decals are just that... decals. The most unusual thing is that this LHD 90 is just sitting in a field! Very interesting that its not...

    LR3 Transmission service flush

I did see quite a few failed front and rear differentials and even a few transfer cases in the 75-90k range. The transfer case only holds like 1.5 quarts of oil... and the front diff is less than 1 quart. Check your fluids regularly!

    LR3 Transmission service flush

There is no way a dealer is changing the pan/filter for $300. The exhaust needs to be dropped, crossmember removed, engine mounts loosened and engine jacked up. Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRrBGkv4EvQ (The fluid itself is over $20 per quart and it takes a lot of quarts)...

2010 RRS supercharged TPMS system issue

    LR3 Transmission service flush

Keep in mind any kind of a "flush" is going to do nothing for the dirty filter thats in there. It's quite labor intensive to change the transmission pan/filter on the LR3. $1000 is not out of line if that includes all parts, fluids, and is a firm quote (not going to go up if/when they break...

Chinese Knock-offs, at 1/4th the price

Ahh, now I see where you were going with this. Should we start talking about how the Federal Reserve Bank's only purpose is to steadily devalue the US Dollar in order to force our dollars into investment accounts controlled by the small group of companies who run everything?

Chinese Knock-offs, at 1/4th the price

That makes no sense. It's a publicly traded company with shareholders from all over the world - the majority of which are international investment entities. That doesn't make the car company any less "Chinese". Designed, built, managed, and overseen by the Chinese. International banks pick...

    Xterra fuel economy :(

I'm not chasing the fuel economy of a Prius. I'm looking for a consistent 20mpg highway with a lifted Xterra on 33's. That would extend usable range by about 100 miles per tank. Assuming all highway driving at 15mpg / 12k miles per year... thats $2240 in fuel with today's cheap prices...

    Xterra fuel economy :(

I understand the above points - however I'd like to understand if anyone has ever undertaken some kind of real "project" to increase fuel economy with one of these versus just either A) accepting it for what it is or B) throwing random parts at it? Slowing down, while an option, is not...
