Tire Repairs: Show your repair and tell your story

If you by chance carry a cordless/rechargeable drill, an appropriate sized drill bit used in place of the reamer makes the plugging task much easier.

    3 point suspension question

The wood should be fine - nearly all medium duty trucks have wood between the box and chassis. It provides some "give" and vibration dampening. Overall this looks like a high quality fab job.

Jeep guy needs some LR info

I mean that 75-100k miles is the typical failure range for major components with LR... always has been.

Jeep guy needs some LR info

As with most Land Rovers, they are typically always due for a fairly thorough "refresh" of consumables and wear items between 75k and 100k. Luckily, its quite a reduced burden from previous models... where 75k was pretty much a guaranteed engine teardown/reseal and maybe head gaskets.

Jeep guy needs some LR info

Based on the additional info provided I would agree that a low mileage, clean LR3 would be a great choice. However, you are absolutely not going to want to have it serviced at the dealer for cost reasons. However, I am not sure how the support is for qualified independent LR shops in NM. The...

Jeep guy needs some LR info

Clearly I did say Discovery and not LR3/4. The OP remarked that his family was having trouble fitting into the JK Unlimited - this implies issues with "living space" rather than cargo space. At 100" wheelbase, both the Discovery 1 and 2 are extremely limited in that respect. At best, no better...

Jeep guy needs some LR info

So you just had a baby, and want to sell off your paid for "best jeep ever", taking a huge financial bath in the process, and then waste your regained capital by spending $20k on a Discovery that will immediately be worth $9k as soon as you're done building it. And that doesn't even address...

    1987 CSW 110

Cool project. I think you will have issues with the Discovery 200 turbo clearing the LHD steering gear but I may be mistaken.

Discovery 4 / LR4 Auxiliary Long Range Tank

Sounds like a good reason to buy a small piece of property in Nevada and put up a mailbox!

Discovery 4 / LR4 Auxiliary Long Range Tank

375hp Nice LR4 and nice mod... please be sure all the fittings that you used are rated for fuel. Some plastics will "melt" very quickly when exposed to gasoline.

You guys know that absolutely zero of this information was propagated by Ford? There is no 2016 Bronco "concept".

Tools to keep in the Disco II

Pozidriv #3 screwdriver is sufficient... I have a "custom" one that I made using a stubby handle put together with a normal length blade. One of my favorite hand tools. It fits in small places due to the small handle, yet reaches into difficult spots with the longer blade. You can take apart...

When the wife sees why we buy stuff that may or may not be used!

I have the opposite problem. I get asked, "So what are you going to get next? You really need to get a new bumper so you can put the winch on. And what about a running water set up?"

Tools to keep in the Disco II

Nope, that set is missing a pozidriv #3 (every LR owner should have one)

    LR2's

Mileage will be within a few percentage points of the Frontier. I would imagine you are getting about 18 average now? By the way - the capability of the Frontier Pro4x is tough to match in stock form. Rear locker, decent suspension, skid plates, etc. The LR3 will match it but an LR2 will not...

Overland Journal: 1995 Range Rover Classic

I love XPC's. They got such a bad rap back in the day but I think they performed pretty well in everything except deep mud. It was a proper tire for a Range Rover - wish they still fitted them from the factory.
