FrontRunner Slimline II roof rack installation on WK2

I really like my WK2. I just wish I had the foresight to get the QTII option instead of the single speed case :( Now, with Front Runner making a rack and ARB having a really nice bar, she would meet all of my needs! Sadly now she has been reassigned to winter car duty for the girlfriend and...

Overland Journal: 1995 Range Rover Classic

One of my favorite looks for these is an ARB bumper while retaining the air dam with fog lights. It's not practical for four wheeling but looks great and does the trick for deer strikes. And new mudflaps for it all around! Bonus points for converting back to EAS.

    Fielding opinions, 15 AEV JKUR

Financially, its a crapshoot. There's literally no way to make sense of it. Probably the only data point that might make a difference is how long it will be until the next purchase (after this one). If you think you'll be into something else again in 3 years or less, I would keep your 08 and...

    2017 Wrangler to be Unibody...

It would be a significant change of the styling and traditional design of the model to go traditional unibody. There is no way you could offer a full soft top with fold down windshield while keeping the traditional shape.

    Rubber Track Systems

I didnt say they would damage the wheel bearings and steering gear, I said it would greatly increase the strain placed on them. If you consider the physics of a 180lb track assembly mounted at each corner versus a 75lb tire and wheel it should make sense.

    Rubber Track Systems

The stress on drivetrain parts is greatly reduced because you are effectively only turning a tire that is the diameter of the main drive gear in the tracks (Maybe 17"?). Also, typically they are used in low traction conditions (snow) so it wouldn't be likely to be able to transmit the amount of...

anybody ever make their own winch lines?

Not necessary to have anything on the end. If you must have something though, just a loop large enough to pass the thimble end through would do.

Don't flame... BUT is the Wrangler the new Defender for the U.S. ???

News article from last week has some insight: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/land-rover-details-its-future-lineup-ar165299.html Then there’s the Defender. McGowan described it as the dual-purpose sub-brand that will be markedly different from the Range and Discovery brands. Don’t expect...

    portable heater for boondocking?

But yeah, otherwise you can get a gasoline fired version of an Espar or Webasto heater and let it draw from your OEM fuel tank. That would be the cleanest $$$ solution.

If you are that concerned about rust you need to invest in an oil based undercoating like Waxoyl. Look it up.
