    37s for Montero gen 2?

The '90 I'm doing on the cheap, I haven't totaled it up yet but I've probably spent close to 2K on parts and materials and I got the front JL axle for free. I do all my own work and I still need to buy some more things but it rolls and steers at this point. I'd say if you hunt for deals on parts...

    37s for Montero gen 2?

The IFS can hang with 37's but it's a lot more maintenance, you'll be doing ball joints and UCA's at least yearly (sometimes more) and replacing (bent) idler arms nearly every trip out. It's not like you'll be experiencing lots of broken parts (throttle control dictates this) but the wear will...

Pinion flanges between the 8" and 9.5" are splined differently, you have a driveshaft for an 8" and installed a 9.5" correct? You can turn down the 9.5" pinion flange to work with the stuff you have assuming you don't have a '94 SR axle, that one is odd and fits nothing I've found.

    37s for Montero gen 2?

That'll about do it, I'd highly recommend getting the 3.15 transfer case gears or swapping the 4:1 T-case or better if you've got an SAS on the horizon.

    1990 Montero V8 project

I believe it was harder to swap but It was a good deal and it was like new (still has all it's paper part number stickers), I only changed directions with this truck because things kept falling in my lap. It actually wasn't a nice truck when I got it, It had been gutted and parted out. The big...

Right hand to left hand conversion

If you're in america I'm guessing you mean you want to convert a RHD Delica to LHD, if so I'd look for a USDM Delica and buy it as a doner vehicle to convert your import.

    1990 Montero V8 project

That's an idea, if a 3.8 manual MIVEC popped up cheap it would change things but I'd still need a Gen 1 V6 auto. It's important to keep the 6 bolt 23 spline output for the NP241 I already have. I found another Gen 1 donor drivetrain which would be ideal IF it's good. We'll see how that goes...

    Montero SR build (Pajero)

If you delete the intake valves make sure you dig out the bushings for the shaft. I've seen a few guys miss them and they get eaten by the engine later.

    1990 Montero V8 project

Got it all welded up, disassembled and painted everything last week. This week I reassembled and was able to roll it out of the garage, it steers with some temporary steering linkage but next I need to make a pitman arm and new steering link. In other news, I may pull the UZ out of this. The...

    1990 Montero V8 project

Just got a, '89 SWB V6, tons and 40's so i need to stop looking for things to do. Miller 250 or 251 or 252 is what I really want, basic workhorse. I'd probably take on more side work though if I had a machine with actual balls.

    1990 Montero V8 project

An about worn out Miller 180, I need to upgrade pretty bad. I hit the duty cycle on it pretty routinely and it doesn't weld as smoothly as it once did. I'm actually pretty embarrassed by the quality of welds I crank out of my garage, I know it's not that big of a deal on the hobby end of the...

    1990 Montero V8 project

Finally getting back on this, got most of my parts but still have some vitals on the way. The JL axle is pretty wide and the mounting is slightly different than the TJ mounting I did on my '99. This put the frame mounts for the suspension behind and outside the crossmember so doing a bolt in...

Be really careful with those nozzles, I broke one torqueing it to spec. Blew the end right off, I ended up lowering the setting slightly for the rest and they were fine. It's also possible my torque wrench was inaccurate because back in those days I didn't have my own and always had to borrow...

Gen 2 '92 Montero Diesel Swap questions

So, the 4M40 never came in that truck natively so you're going to need to do some extra custom fab work most likely. On the later Gen 2 (late '93) they reconfigured everything for the 24 valve engines and the 4M40 and it's literally flip the crossmember and the drivetrain is lined up for the...
