New Alaskan side entry flatbed 8.5' build!!

Such a complete answer! We are not looking at off-roading, we do drive 5-10hours to get places regularly but 90%highway. I love the passtrough, simplicity and cargo space in the van. I don’t like the wind pushing us around and the road noise and the few rattles we managed to limit them a...

Now the big question van vs truck How is Wind noise in the cab down the road? Do you miss the pass through? Cab comfort for long drives? Other + and - ? I’m looking at truck camper setup I think the comfort and quietness of the cab would be better in a truck, but man do we love to pullover...

2010 FUSO Canter 4x4 What spare parts do you carry on your over land trips including heading to other countries?

That’s why I don’t carry a spare in my cars. Originally from drag racing days, but the one car that kept its spare would always have flat tires, now I remove them store it with the off season tire and never got a flat since.

Big Foot Camper + GMC Topkick (4x4) = Expedition Camper

love this! I am currently sketching a floorplan for a 12' main floor plus overhead bed, a big foot fifthwheel seems like an amazing solution to saving a lot of time and making it not look home made like you said! I always loved driving around our work topkick except when unloaded... haha...

Didn’t verify for autocorrect mistakes. But yeah I’d get a heater and not bother with extra insulation

    Insulation Options for SpaceKap

Not sure I would even bother with extra insulation. It’s such a debated topic, you have a small space, any heater you outback in will be more than sufficient to heat the space without added insulation. Adding insulation just raises risks of humidity,condensation,rust,mold.. Unless you spray...

    Ram 5500 is here

That’s certainly good to hear, I was also very scared that a camper that long would be rear heavy and that the front end would be super light and bouncy. I’m planning a building an 11’ camper, I wanted the longer wheelbase for weight distribution and ride comfort but if weight is not an issue...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

Don’t do Chinese tires please. We tried them on some backhoes instead of the Michelin’s or Goodyear.. one set lasted one day blew the sidewalks off them, the other set lasted 2 months and were bald, Michelin’s would last 2years with our type of use. I would try to find used tires before he...
