Yes zerk fitting, I used the Valvoline DuraBlend NLGI 2 moly/lithium based grease: http://www.valvoline.com/our-products/grease-gear-oil/synthetic-blend-grease
As for the solar panel for the fridge in my experience with the fridge+larger DieHard Platinum battery you really don't need it unless...
After checking into both options for now I've decided to hold off and stick with what we have. However, in the future for me it'll most likely be a pickup +a Flippac. I'd love the FWC but the weight of the them easily shoots past the 1/2 ton truck's payload capacity once you add in larger tires...
Cool updates! You might consider a transit bag to help keep the fridge clean/scuff-free and it's lined with a soft-cooler type material for insulation too. What's the inverter for? Almost all small electronics these days are USB based and I prefer to use those because the inverters use up more...
Looks like a Blue Heeler (aka ACD - Australian Cattle Dog). Our dog is an ACD+Akita mutt, super smart but aloof unless he knows you well, a bit aggressive towards unknown large dogs- but I'm sure this has nothing to do with richard310's X so I'll shut up :)
How's the get-up and go and braking with the bigger tires now that you've had some time to feel them out?
Also I realized how crappy the crawl ratio on the R50 Pathfinders is (and probably the early Frontiers/Xterras too) 2.785x2.02x4.363=24.55:1 vs. 33-ish being the avg for most automatic...
Nice man! That's what I have too just the 40-ishL model and so far so good!
BTW I just wanted to say thanks for the tip on the Car Gauge Pro setup - I got it today and low and behold I was able to correct my high idle (after 2 years!) and advance the timing to +2degs! I'll probably set it back...
Nice! I like the lights on the grill. I've thought about finding three or four 1" LED marker lights similar to the Ford Raptors but never really looked into it that much.
Here's the one I got, btw it's a 10W panel not 15W, my bad: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FW3G2G
It won't recharge your batteries from dead but I figure like a trickle charger if the truck is sitting around at camp it'll get some replenishment. An ARB type of a fridge typically uses...
A few minor updates. I've been using the original 64G ipad with MotionX quite successfully, however, due to the old iOS I haven't been able to update MotionX for a while though not a huge deal. What I didn't like though was the precious amount of room the mount took and it wasn't very solid...
Nice build, I hadn't noticed it until now. I have the same roof ATV box, I replaced the strut with a length of chain instead because it seemed to get in the way more than help. Is that brass bushing rusting away? I can't quite tell from the pic?
I think it's perfect! but it really comes down to the main intended purpose of the truck. See the comment from Scott here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/145748-overlander-vs-rock-cralwer
I fully agree, while I enjoy a challenge every now and again but my heart is after exploring...
Couldn't agree more, it looks awesome! especially when you see the 265 comparison. Great job!
I measured my ground-clearance at the B-pillar it's 16.75" under the slider. But the measurements vary from 16" to 17" depending on if it's near the A pillar (16), or C pillar (17"). Under the front...
That's too funny, I was looking at those tires and thinking "man, those 265s look just the perfect size for the lift and with tons of tread on them, not sure why he's upgrading them" LOL
The 285s look fantastic, perfect look proportionally. Any before pics (same angle for a comparison)? What...
Looks good, still waiting to see the bigger tires on it...:coffee:
BTW, how many inches from the ground to the flat part of the rock sliders under the B-pillar?
Thanks. Good tip on the gussets, I did gusset it around the tire mount, hopefully it's enough. I do want to add some additional gussets/support at the bottom of the tire mount upright.
Cool, any links to the McMasterCarr part# or item?
Thanks for answering my noob questions Adam, I'm happy...
A great end to this story. Good on you and Don for jumping into action.
It's also one of my fears when exploring the backcountry solo- sometimes you just can't go with others but I try to drive easier and well traveled trails and try to bring extra water and food.
Haha yeah...live and learn. Good to see you around.
Wreck, just as fyi my supposed 32" KM2s also only measure out to about 30.75 or so. Then again they're E-loads so probably need 80psi to get close to 31.5. In my 'limited' experience with three different brands (Duratracs, BFG KOs, and BFG...
