Dedicated Starlink and mobile 4/5G thread

Ah, that makes more sense. According to this article they added 9 countries last year, so if they keep up the pace they might have decent-ish coverage soon? I do see a lot of boasting about 100% global coverage, so it might be worth asking what they would do if you do happen to drive to a...

Dedicated Starlink and mobile 4/5G thread

Thanks for the info on Swarm, I hadn't heard of it before. How/why would it be illegal in other countries? And who would enforce that?

Toolbox / fuel tank ground clearance?

Gah, good point. I'll add it to our list of things to look into as well.

Toolbox / fuel tank ground clearance?

I'm sure AV know what they're doing there, but our underrun bar will be liftable so it won't affect our departure angle off road.

Toolbox / fuel tank ground clearance?

That reminds me, depending on the height of the fuel tanks it might make sense to add some underside protection too. But yes, having it higher to begin with would be best. Thanks for the input, everyone! Very helpful. ?

Toolbox / fuel tank ground clearance?

Spoken like a true adventurer! Good perspective, thank you. Some crazy marbles there. Off-road driving course and practice are high on our list of priorities.

Toolbox / fuel tank ground clearance?

Hey everyone, we are curious to know how high above the ground the bottom of your toolboxes and fuel tanks are, and whether you've ever hit them against anything. We are (very roughly) estimating ~50cm for ours and wondering how that compares to others' and whether it's too low. Thanks!

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

What a cool job and trip! Thank you for sharing, really great photos. We spent over a year driving around WA in a campervan but it was 2WD so sadly we didn't manage to see the Kimberleys at all. It's partly what convinced us to upgrade to a 4x4 overland truck. Looking forward to being back...

I wish we had our truck already and could test it properly with the hot water system! But a year after handing our truck over to AV we're still waiting to hear when they'll start working on it, alas.

    Meertruck 1124AF

Thanks for sharing your experiences, that hadn't occurred to us before. Our biggest AC loads will be the induction stove and microwave/oven which will be next to the electrical compartment, with air flow between them. Theoretically the whole area will be well ventilated (externally in the summer...

First pass of electrical diagram. To avoid clutter at this stage, each line represents both positive and negative, and we haven't included fuses, breakers, switches, or any of the BMS and Cerbo GX connections yet. We see most Victron setup folks these days using Quattros or Multipluses, but...

Poll about heaters at high altitude

Thanks for sharing, good to know! Finicky but mostly still functional is fine for us, I don't imagine we'll be that high up for too long. I think we should be fine with just the 5kW, then. -30C will be about our limit too.

Poll about heaters at high altitude

I already know which heater I want, that's not the question. Please think of this thread as real life data collection rather than advice collection. The threads asking for advice get derailed quickly. I would prefer to hear about people's actual experiences, know some context about their setup...

Fridge Upgrade Recommendation - Cirrus 820

I've seen lots of people with those big Vitrifrigos and they seem to like them so I'm planning to put one in my build but don't yet have personal experience with them. I did buy a secondhand Dometic for my campervan in Australia and used it for over a year with no problems. They really love...
