Another JK 2-door stock-height overland suspension advice thread

I don't think you'll find one that is low enough to make enough of a difference to be worth the price you'll pay to make the change. A better suspension will make a difference. Whether it's enough of one for you I do not know. The first 2 were the biggest issues for me. My MPG already sucks...

    Jeep pickup is for reals

If I'd known that the ************* stock ones wouldn't turn on with the command start I would have done something different. Talk about a huge piss off. It's warmed up to -31 now, and I know that almost regardless of how long the jeep runs for, that seat will be rock hard and cold for 5 minutes after...

    Jeep pickup is for reals

I could live without the power everything, but really like the leather - and in fact paid extra for it. Why? Because it's super easy to clean when you get mud on it, or to dry it off when the top is down and it rains.

    Jeep pickup is for reals

I think this sums it up well. Will it be for everyone? Of course not. But I can certainly see how it will hold some appeal to several different segments. As long as your wheeling trips are not into super tight places, the extra length of the JP (truck?) shouldn't be a big deal. A modest build...

Improving Hwy Manners For Long Trips

Still catching up on the thread. If you're going to re-gear, I'd strongly suggest looking into lockers/limited slip/etc to do at the same time. Cost isn't that much more as it's all a labor cost and will be mostly covered when re-gearing as they're already in there.

Improving Hwy Manners For Long Trips

I have 93,000 km (55k miles?) on my 2012 JKUR (auto/4.10s). At least a half of that (if not more) is from long *** road trips where I'm driving 10-15 hours a day. And other than poor back support after losing a bunch of weight, I've never really had an issue with my 2012 in terms of comfort...

    Brand new Diesel CJ8

It would be an awesome rig... However the $152,500 price tag (for the diesel with the hard top) seems a little extravagant. I mean, hey if you win the lotto, and love them, sure. But if you're looking to kit out an amazing expo rig and have 150k to play with... surely you can find something...

    2012 JKU Rubicon Build/Adventure Thread

Well found out the hard way that a 4 year and 11 month old battery doesn't like -35c temps. And especially when not plugged in. Decided not to start today. Called BCAA (love that subscription) and had them give me a boost. 90 minutes later I turned it off and tried to start it again... no dice...

    JKU Roof Rack question

It depends on rack. If you're running an AEV type that mounts through the roof but doesn't have A pillar support, then you'd have to go up through the roof somewhere. However if it's one like the Front Runner rack, MRBP, etc, then you can go through the cowl in the front and up the A pillar.

    Fog light question

If they're true fog lights (vs some random LED lights), 4-5 inches shouldn't make too much of a difference as long as they're aimed correctly. And if they're not true fogs and are just some random LED lights, you shouldn't be using them on the road with traffic anyway, in which case the 4-5...

    Genright and Fowmaster

I can 2nd the zero exhaust smell/fumes in the cab. Not sure what brand of exhaust I have (saw one on sale and bought it), but it dumps before the rear axle. Have had it for 2+ years now with lots of idling in cold temps with zero issues.

    JK aux fuel tank

Well a Genright is over 2k after the exchange, then there's the fuel cell/pump, the antirock sway bars and then you get to the labor. Love the idea of that tank... but that's gotta to be around 4-4500 CND. It's on my wish list... but I'm not in a hurry to drop that sort of coin when I have...

    JK aux fuel tank

^^ Genius idea. Even with the cost of the supplies, the AEV arm and someone to do the labor, that's still a heck of a lot cheaper than the Genright tank, the anti rock sway bars, fuel pump and the labor.

    JK aux fuel tank

This is my eventual plan. I've already moved the muffler, and eventually will get around to doing this. However in the meantime I'm running a Titan Tank. A PITA at times (transfer takes 10-15 min, and then you need to deal with the hose), but that extra 10gal is a very nice thing to have as an...

Heated Steering Wheel - Wrangler JK

So Jeep has the heated steering wheel in the Cherokee and GC, but naturally they use a different steering wheel for the JK. I'm completely clueless as to why they wouldn't give this to us as an option. I mean when I ordered my JK, I easily would have paid several hundred dollars to have this...

    My Jeep Warranty Nightmare

    1) Some are, some aren't. Unfortunately you don't get to figure that out without much pain. 2) My extended warranty got me a brand new engine. Not to mention all sort of other wear and tear things replaced. So far I'm well ahead of what I paid for my warranty, and am only half way though it. 3)...

    2016 JK Family Truckster build

I have had these for a few years now (pretty sure I put them on 2 summers ago). Absolutely love them. However, while they're great to put a little more weight on the tailgate, if one plans on doing anything excessive I'd go with the Teraflex setup (or something similar). I love the hinges...

    2012 JKU Rubicon Build/Adventure Thread

Thanks Dan. I might take you up on that if I'm unable to find someone out west who can do this while I'm there. But I'm honestly not in a rush. Chrysler has given me paperwork in writing that states that everything under the red line is considered "normal" and that unless I hit the red line I do...

    2012 JKU Rubicon Build/Adventure Thread

Until I win the lottery... unfortunately I don't fall into that zone. Besides, that's like a 20k upgrade. :eek Unless I blow up the engine, the odds of me going there any time soon are pretty remote. Mind you considering what I'm going to end up spending for my 2 week vacation in FL/TX...

    2012 JKU Rubicon Build/Adventure Thread

I had the inner fender liners out a couple years ago when I did a trip to Edmonton - them out made it a LOT worse. Putting them back in made an extremely noticeable difference. Towing my little 1300/1400 lb trailer in the mountains I couldn't get the temps below 230/240. They'd go up and just...
