ITTOG's Truck Camper Build (was 6' x 12' Trailer Conversion)

Yeah, so much to think about when doing a custom build. I think one of the nice things about having it self contained and removable is the ability to get everything out in one shot and not have to break it down. Mine has a permanent fridge, heater, cabinets for storage, bed platform and...

    Another DIY truck camper

Had it out for a week this time at a friend's property. Took the camper off this time so it was easier to get in and out and we could use the truck as a truck while we were there. Most everything worked well. Definitely need latches put on the drawers and cabinets, some opened while driving...

ITTOG's Truck Camper Build (was 6' x 12' Trailer Conversion)

I may have missed it but how are you planning to lift it in and out once completed? If you're at 340lbs already I am betting you'll be well over 1000lbs kitted out. You'll have to be careful putting on and off with the camper sitting so tight to the bed rails. I originally wanted mine real...

How did you go 5 days with the diesel heater? Must have been very minimal usage. I have a webasto air heater in mine and I get about 2.5 days before I am down to 50% on a new 105ah AGM. I run it about 8-10 hours a night. Over night temps have been around -5C. Only other thing I am running is a...

Pop-Up Camper - Custom Build (scratch built) Oasis-Si

Looks great in there! Doesn't look to sag the truck too much either. You'll have to let us know what it weighs. Im assuming you'll be removing the tailgate. I once road out with a friend who had a side by side loaded in a 8' bed and the tailgate didn't quite close. We left it down for...

Build: Ski Machine Foam/Fiberglass Truck Camper

When I did testing on my foam/epoxy bond I found I didn't need to score up the foam. The foam failed before the foam/epoxy bond everytime. I was bonding foam to plywood though, not fiberglassing foam

Build: Ski Machine Foam/Fiberglass Truck Camper

Any plans to fillet and fiberglass the inside corners? How about interior seating and cabinetry to help brace and strengthen the box struture? I made mine caboverless too. I find the campers without cabovers look strange and that's coming from someone that has one. I'd recommend a small bump...

First overnight done. Drove about 80kms with it. Mix of highway and dirt road. Drives nice, squats the truck about 1.5", which puts it just a tad higher in the rear. Does slightly load the front axle (by about 200lbs), kinda surprised by that considering no cab over. Everything worked well...

    Camper tie down recommendations please

I don't know if I'd call that a light weight. You're probably well over 3k lbs ready to camp. I don't have much experience with TC's at this point but if you are planning any offroad excursions I've read that removing or loosening the rear turnbuckles could save your bumper some damage.

    Wanted pictures of door seal

Hi, The entrance door I got for my camper build was pre used. I installed it and it leaked like a sieve between the frame and the door on the hinge side. Does anyone have a picture of how the seals are done on the hinge side? It's a Lippert door with the radius top corners, no inner screen...

Pop-Up Camper - Custom Build (scratch built) Oasis-Si

Home stretch now! I ll be getting my cushions covered soon too hopefully in October, but I plan to start using it here pretty quick. Would have been sooner but when testing for water leaks found that the rv door i bought leaks between the door and the frame. Actually required moving the door...

Should FWC's Swift & Fleet be marketed towards Tacomas?

It does happen in BC. They've got portable scales and they'll set up road side and pull in anything that looks questionable, including truck campers. Seen it most around hunting season near the large urban centers

Got to the scales. She's a portly 1653lbs. Should be right around 1700lbs finished, guessing about 2000lbs fully loaded with water, food, fuel, and a propane tank. Definitely about 400-500lbs heavier than I was hoping, but still under my GVWR.

    C4500 Kodiak - Grizzly

I think you'd end up hating the stairs mounted sideways like that. That last step up and first step down would be awkward. I'd try to find a way to mount them so it's just straight up and onto the deck.

    Which Fire Extinguisher?

I bought the element ones. One for the camper, truck and wife's jeep. Haven't had to use them yet though, but I like the concept

Bunch more odds and ends done. Bedliner on the bottom is done. Jack brackets, electrical outlets, door, and everything else that bolts to the outside is sealed. Put the flooring in. Just working on the folding dinette seats/bed now; it's almost there. Webasto is in, but needs fuel line, pump...

Is it always this way or more due to the increase in camping interest due to covid-19?

Same thing with trucks, last two I've bought new since the used market was only a couple grand less after negotiating. Same thing with motorcycles and it seems real estate too. Ill see the same property listed way too high, relisted again and again, some have been in this cycle for a few...
