It is very hard to smoke test an engine with a Viscous coupled fan...... Didn't find anything with it idling for 20 minutes. So if it does have a leak, it only happens at higher RPM's. Or it is the EGR valve leaking at higher RPM's..
I was thinking the oil must be normal... I've inspected all the vacuum hoses and the intake tubing... I will check the valve cover bolts for tightness, and possibly change those gaskets...
Posted this at LandRoversonly forums too.
I've got a head scratcher..
Two years ago, I had an issue with my thermostat housing cracking internally. About 4-5 months after I replaced that, I would get random "Reduced Engine Performance" messages on the screen, usually when going down a big...
I wonder if they changed the middle console from the 2005 to 2006, or if they changed the GunVault Nano 100, as the one I purchased does not fit in my 2006 middle console pocket. It leaves 3 inches behind the vault at the bottom to get it to fit at all. And I didn't test fit before I started...
Front brakes were replaced with Raybestos 980351 Rotors and Warner QC1098 Pads. Rears with Raybestos 980345 rotors and Warner QC1099 pads. I defeated both wear sensors.
This was 50k miles ago. They are still working great. Need to check the thicknesses though, as it was 50k miles...
I did start having this problem more often, and found I had a tire that was constantly going low due to a failed plug. Replugged it and haven't had the problem since.
I have one wheel without a TPMS sensor, as I have tried three different ones and couldn't get it to work. First two didn't connect, and the third wouldn't hold air in the wheel.
So my TPMS never worked after my tire replacement. Even the tires with sensors wouldn't tell me what was going on...
For our family of 6, we have moved from tents to a popup to a hybrid travel trailer.
The tents didn't work out well at all, as my wife was never a fan of them, and so for many years, we didn't camp. In 2009 I bought a huge popup camper from a co-worker (1996 Coleman Cheyenne) for $2k. In...
I was driving on an alternator that I think has been going bad since April 2016. That was when I got the first error message. And a strange noise under the hood I couldn't track down. As of the Jan 2017 alternator change I posted earlier, all strange noises are gone from under the hood. Now I...
It kills me that we think a 3 year old battery in a car is old. I have had cars with the original battery as the second owner and never changed the battery. Most cars don't care if the battery loses 15% of its capacity. The LR3 seems to care if you lose 5%. My wife's 2013 Durango has the...
My Alternator just died in early January too. Replaced with an Autozone model. Replaced all the belts and the tensioners too, as I had 137k miles at the time.
Now worried my battery is going one. A few issues keep popping up. Every time I drive through a certain stretch of road (about once...
I will say that my "reliability" issues with my D1 were all little stupid stuff. Engine and drive train was awesome. But other things on the truck were going to pot due to neglect from previous owners. Door locks, radio, tons of rust in the back end, fuel pump issues. I still kick myself for...
When I was young, I always wanted a green Wrangler. Every time I went to buy a new vehicle, the Wrangler was out of my price range. Every single time. So I bought a well used Disco I for $2500. Put abut $3500 into it, including tires. My 1995 had ABS. I moved from 95 Disco 1 to an LR3 due...
Those of us with 4 kids do. And Land Rover is pretty much the only company to make something capable that we can haul all the kids, tow and still do some off-roading. And for cheaper than a Suburban, I might add.
I don't know if anyone has looked at an Explorer lately, but they have a traction control system with the exact same icons that we have in our LR3's....
I remember my wife and I discussion how much like a Land Rover the newer Explorers looked when they first came out a few years ago. I think...
That looks nice!! I've been thinking about moving my full size spare up like that as well.
Which carrier did you end up getting? I've glanced through about 15 pages and couldn't find where you mentioned what you had.
