asking price seems a little steep but maybe not considering mileage.
Parts will be expensive but availability should be good; the the 2wd 1017 was sold in...
Havn't seen many particularly good deals myself but might be true.
Probably want to stay away from IVECO unless you get an extraordinary deal and really like working on trucks. They're not bad trucks but newest ones are 20 yrs. old now and parts are fairly expensive, if you can even get them.
Pretty sure that although front and rear tires may have a different tread, sizes and specification will be the same practically all the time. All 6 wheels are also interchangeable.
Flats with new tires in regular driving are pretty rare in my experience; in 5 years and many hundreds of...
Just got back from my local U-Pull, dozens of Clunkers, no restrictions on what was up for grabs.
This yard keeps everything 2000-up for themselves, so not much exciting. Couple of 1st. Gen. 4Runners, a VW Quantum Syncro, etc..
Thinking about picking this up if everything seems right.:

I'm not really a Jeep guy and not planning on becoming one but I need a hauler and it might be priced right.
Fair/great/not very good deal? What to look for?
thanks.
I think production is moving to Mexico, which is protected by NAFTA; there are several Big 3 truck models that have been produced in Canada and Mexico.
sounds like spam to me, but FWIW:

kind of big for anything anyone around here is using. Price might be reasonable.
Stock it's "only" 350hp or so, but it's a big motor. could probably be convinced to give twice that much by...
I'll bet the asking price is over $10k, might not be a bad investment. Nothing else like it on the road...
A lot of $$ to have tied up in a 20yr. old car. If you want to make a lowball offer, $6500.
There may not be anyone here less than 100 mi. away, if that. regardless-

supposedly the reason VW discontinued the sale of light commercial trucks in the U.S. had something to do with chickens...
I knew a guy who took a grey market Benz to a MIDAS or someplace like that. They threatened to call the EPA if he didn't instal US- spec. Cats or something like that. it was a long time ago.
That's pretty much what I was thinking, only I was thinking WA because I would have places to stay. Am I going to find a nice 4x4 Hilux or 4Runner in either place for say, $1500?
Seems like lot's of nice 2wd's around that price.
Plus, I get the solid axle w/o having to look around.
I remember a thread on a 90's- something Tacoma, but what's the deal on converting an older truck to 4wd?
The frame on my 85 4runner is solid but the body is pretty much toast.
Is the front half of the drivetrain from a pick-up identical? Were there any 2wd 4runners?
How about a pick-up cab-...
might be just a little harsh, the 2.1 can be tamed and there are people who get 175k+ out of a waterboxer in fairy hard driving, it's just that the learning curve to do that is about the same as the Subaru conversion, a motor you can buy in the junkyard for $500 or less.
