You had me worried. I thought you were going to say that the FG model was being discontinued.
Looks like a good option for a commercial fleet, a little to techy for third-world travel for me.
Argreed.
Funny how first started seeing them in the city after growing up in the country; though they looked kind of wierd, wondered why anyone would want one.
Now I think they look more unique than ugly and appreciate the technical aspects of Mercedes engineering a lot more.
Still have mixed...
not terribly ugly, kind of interesting. The sliding front doors are a great concept.
Wonder where it came from; I was never aware of Bedford having sold vehicles in any LHD market- unless delivery vehicles in RHD markets have the steering wheel on the "wrong" side.....?
This truck probably didn't have great off-road ability, but doesn't get much proven than Oshkosh. You'd have to be pretty stupid or unlucky to break it, and worldwide parts support for CAT and Oshkosh isn't half- bad.
At $48k, you could buy it, rebuild it to your own specs and still have money...
I thought the interor was a little intense, but interesting. Don't think it would bother me.
On one hand- jeez is that thing overbuilt.
On the other hand, kind of a cool design, but, jeez that thing is overbuilt.
I'll pass. :)
interesting thing is I hear the U.S. Hercs going to and from the Gulf are likely as not to be empty due to payload/range considerations.
300kts cruise and 2000 mile range probaly makes transit difficult enough without trying to haul a lot- cheaper to charter commercial freighters to the...
Anyone have ideas on a source for a inexpensive 12v water pump for the d.i.y. hydronic heater I'm designing for my box truck?
Low current draw is the biggest priority- seems like 1 gpm would be enough.
What's going to happen if I run water/antifreeze through a fuel pump?
My truck has on-board...
There are some dealers in the east and northeast U.S. that are dedicated to the product; other than that, the level of indifference I've heard about is astounding.
Someone in my neighbor has one as a work truck, said that when it was delivered the dealer handed him the keys and wished him a...
Definitely a 4 cylinder and an automatic.
The auto trannies are pretty soild but I know I'd take the 5 speed if given the choice (new ones have a standard 5 speed auto and available 6 speed manual!).
The longevity of the four cylinder in this truck is pretty hard to guess. Probably up to at...
bump- brief inspection
Just happened to see this one on the street while out on an errand.
Owner wasn't available to show but looked to be in good condition.
not a UNICAT; at least a few things that could be upgraded- generator is low end off-brand, external wiring that is basicly solid but...
There are some nice VW Golf based syncro TDI CDV's in Europe.
May have posted this already but we're about to get these:

here it is!
kind of what I was thinking about:

can't afford even this one right now, though.
Pretty much what I'm doing on my HINO; depending on the value of the box itself, I consider the main drawback to be that the floor weighs far more than it might need to.
I'm moving in that general direction with my '85. The body on on mine is a lost cause but if the plans work out maybe I can find one with a body worth saving.
