It is certainly not the first choice for adventure travel, but it has been used for it.

back when that was new, there were fewer vehicles in out of the way places... and hence fewer ruts. also the ruts are determined by the locals "biggest common vehicle", and transport in 3rd wold nations has gotten bigger with the bigger mogs and Mans.

i'll bet car travel in the 60's and 70's was much easier and common, where there was an actual unimproved road.

hey zimm, your avatar makes me laugh everytime I see it....To the original poster....nice car. good price.

My opinion is that honest, civil, learned contributors to this website shall have more leeway when it comes to posting for sale items. In this case, the vehicle in question is also a classic, well built example.

Very appropriate, in my opinion.

Very clean Andre!

I was actually looking for these (on Craigslist), the very day you posted this!

I love these! Since my son broke the daily driver I have already bought him, I was thinking a Mercedes Diesel might be the way to go next!

They have them in all sizes and prices on the net. Yours is Very clean!

I Like it! Thanks for Sharing!

No need for anyone here to complain! It's a nice offer!

But I am not responsible for anything he types!:Wow1::sombrero::elkgrin::ylsmoke:

I tried to tell ya!

I've heard that drinking biodiesel in small quantities can cure that!

Luv ya Zimm!.....

Though interestingly one of the links Scott posted is an explorer using a 190D as well and this one in question would also be a good expedition "car" with its very rare actual 5 speed manual transmission.

Absolutely no doubt. That 'explorer' is Chris Scott, an exceedingly accomplished overlander on both 4 wheels and 2. He is also a very well respected author (Sahara Overland, Overland Journal). And the Merc, well, the Merc is classic overlanding hardware. You should write a classic kit article on it for Overland Journal.
:)

cheers

I'd rather be in a 300d than half the expedition vehicles on this site. The reliability of the 300d is near untouchable.

Dre if this was a wagon I'd be all over it...well and if we didn't just buy that second 4runner...

So, another bump for a sweet rig and a great expedition community contributor.

on the side note this has taken,, there is a reason some guys on the forum are largely ignored by me lately,,,,

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
thanks guys for your support... I am also a little on flexible on price. I figured I would try here and then ebay next week. One more of those things that we definitely want to keep but between me and my wife I think we're pushing 6 cars, 2 trailers, yada yada :)
