Colorado Camper Van Review (CCV)- Buyer Beware

Does anyone know who the CCV employee that posts on here from time to time is? I would like to get in touch with him...ASAP regarding the top that CCV installed.

Setting up Jeep Gladiator for overlanding. Power storage question.

I don't know what you posted. Happy Buy Diesel Heaters is what I have use - works fine. I have a 5 and 8kw...no difference in size, but the 8kW does produce a bit more (and man it is A LOT of heat - the air will burn you pretty fast it is so dang hot!) Propane heaters (like Propex) are very...

Setting up Jeep Gladiator for overlanding. Power storage question.

I have one mounted to my van floor, one mounted in a portable tool box, and mounted in the case it came in... For the gladiator, I would go the toolbox method. Revere Overland on Youtube has a great set of videos on this subject (I think he copied me! hah - j/k, don't know the guy). (He is a...

Solar Wiring question - gauge and connector type?

10/2 and 12/2 (like SOOW or similar) is available all over the place - just not at the home centers - a decent electrical supply house will have it (I picked up mine at Platt). I've also ordered it off of eBay and Amazon. SPT landscape cable is also available...up to 8/2. Great stuff and...

Solar Wiring question - gauge and connector type?

Pretty simple power economics. More voltage drop = more power drop = longer charge times....or larger panels. Wire is cheap, panels and time are not. Shoot for ~2% voltage drop at Isc...and call it bananas. 10/2 cord and 12/2 cord are cheap and good for about 25' at 6-8A for an 18V Voc...

Setting up Jeep Gladiator for overlanding. Power storage question.

What is your build objective? Weekend warrior/once and a while/family trips occasionally...or full blown 'expo' build? For your gladiator: 1) A 100Ah battery lithium would be a huge luxury. 100Ah lead acid (50Ah usable) is MORE than adequate. Many are using a 68Hr Grp 34 dual battery setup in...

Setting up Jeep Gladiator for overlanding. Power storage question.

300Ah of Lithium or lead acid? To run a space heater or electric blanket? A 2kw inverter will consume 1-3Ah on its own...with no load. What size is the heater? Diesel heater or Mr Heater Propane heater for heating a tent. Electric is not viable. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk

Setting up Jeep Gladiator for overlanding. Power storage question.

Having a good time while overlanding is all about minimizing the Hassle Factor (HF)...mount it (solar and battery) permanantly and don't mess around with cables, portable units, etc. If you drive everyday for more than 2-4hrs - then you will likely not need solar. (Just another battery). Get a...

Light duty winches (ATV) on small to medium sized 4x4s.

There is a video of a guy extracting a 9000# van deeply embedded in a forest using only an light ATV winch (maybe a 1500 or 2000# 2inch). He used pulleys to increase the pull strength. At one point he had a triple line pull rigged. Took a long long while, but he got it done. Get a lighter...

    Decent Winch For 8,000lb Van.

Go for 8-10k and just do a double line pull. Get some extra dyneema rope to compensate for the loss if length. People always forget about using pulleys. You're not going to want to put much lateral pull on a Sprinter anyway...the frame horns really aren't meant to handle side loading.. Sent...

Victron Energy Smart Battery Sense Weirdness

I have 6 of them - 4 are blue, 2 are black. The black ones are flakey with crap range. The blue ones work much better - great range, reliable operation. It was too late to send the black ones back...Could be older or counterfeit...All were ordered at the same time from Amazon. Sent from my...

Requesting assistance from the solar gurus...

Make sure the panels you're buying have bypass diodes in them. Stacked in parallel (1shaded/1sun), then in series with the other stacked modules. Modules in series need to be exposed to the same conditions in order to work best. It would also be possible to put the full sun modules in...
