    Question on Garmin Inreach

This is what I do with my InReach as well. The InReach battery is pretty good on its own, but if you can run vehicle power that's even better. I mount the InReach to the windshield with a Ram mount with built in power adapter. I also keep the paired cell phone plugged in and mounted with a...

    XJ/ZJ as budget off roader

The biggest thing I would suggest when buying a unibody rig for wheeling is to buy one that has not already been wheeled extensively. The unibody is the main drawback to these rigs and eventually it will become a problem if you're running 33's or larger and truly wheeling it. It is WAY easier...

    Using a Yeti backwards?

Anecdotal evidence here. I was running the snowblower in my driveway a couple years ago, subzero temps and my beer started to freeze just sitting in the can. Not a light beer either, 8% ABV. For the next can, I put it in one of the Yeti colsters, and it didn't freeze. Or maybe I just drank...

    m416 rebuild question

I swapped out the original axle in my M416 for a 3,500lb axle with electric brakes. Sure it'd be nice to have the parking brake, but I've gotten by just fine for 8-9 years without it just using wheel chocks. Granted I'm a pretty big dude and have no problems moving my trailer around even when...

Love the Smittybuilt Scout trailer for my RTT, but I don't go off-road. What are my options?

What is the tow vehicle? And overlanding is really just fancy car camping, so I wouldn't be too worried about something designed for "overlanding." You certainly don't need an Adventure Trailer or the like, but the SmittyBuilt would probably be a good option for you.

Need your input on the best way to transport a Generator

That is a LOT of generator to take camping. I used to take a 2000 watt with a 28' travel trailer and it ran everything but the a/c. If a few of you are looking for a ways to keep batteries/phones/maybe even a small fridge going I would just bring some solar panels. Quieter and WAY easier to pack.

    TX-NM-AZ-CA-NV-UT-CO-WY-SD-NE-OK-TX, July 2018

I've done Black Bear quite a few times so I'm familiar with the area, just wanted to make sure you were as well. Have fun on your trip! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Can't quite tell for sure from your itinerary, but it looks like you may be planning on running Black Bear from west to east. Black Bear is a one-way trail only, and is run from east to west.

Grand Slam West (Moab) Cancelled - 2018

Hack, sounds like it was a Grand Slam Southwest (GSSW) that you did in AZ, probably with Kevin and crew? What's your name? I've been to every GSW since 2001 so I'm sure we've met or at least know some common people. There are some of the newer ones being built, but we never really had any...

Grand Slam West (Moab) Cancelled - 2018

Nothing has been posted on the GSW Facebook page since that announcement was made, I'm the admin of the FB page and was a long time member of the Planner's Committee for GSW. I'll probably be shutting the FB page down at some point here soon. It's a weird feeling right now as this is normally...

Any Big and Tall guys made mods to fit in an XJ for Overland?

I know the WK has been already eliminated, but I thought of something else on the WK this morning that can be important to us tall guys. I had a rental WK at one point, couldn't tell you what year it was, but the ignition cylinder was on the dash, not really on the column like I was used to...

Any Big and Tall guys made mods to fit in an XJ for Overland?

I wouldn't even bother. The windshield slope makes visibility tough on taller people, and there isn't really anymore room than a WJ. And quite a bit less aftermarket support.

Any Big and Tall guys made mods to fit in an XJ for Overland?

6'5" >300 here. My parents had an XJ when I was in high school (20 years ago) and it was cramped for me. I have a ZJ now, and am quite comfortable in those. Been in plenty of WJ's and I'd say they're on par with the ZJ's for interior space. My wife has a '15 JKU and I'm more comfortable in...

    2015 JKUR Long Term Build

35s are on. Rubs a bit on the front bumper when turning, but the sawzall will fix that until we can get an aftermarket bumper and winch on there. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    2015 JKUR Long Term Build

So we ordered the flares, but didn't order them soon enough to get installed for our Moab trip. Hacked up the factory fenders a bit to clear the 35s. Will be getting the tires on later this week. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Fridge inside or outside?

I put a cooler in my trailer once, never again. I probably drive a little faster than most, but the trailer bounces around a LOT more than the Jeep does. Everything that was in my cooler because a giant slushy. If you're just going down the highway and car camping you'd probably be fine. But...

    My '17 F150 5.0 FX4 Thread

Interesting, I'll have to look into that. I have an F350 and have been looking at ways to mount a CB mic. I certainly don't need it all the time, but want it somewhere easy to access when it is hooked up. Thanks!

    CB/Ham Antenna Mounting on 2018 F350 w/ tonneau

The Retrax covers have little cutouts that allow access to the stake pockets. I've spent a lot of time already on the Breedlove site and had somehow missed these mounts: https://www.breedlovemounts.com/ezn-stake-pocket-bracket.html That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
