wtb: 2008 or newer 4x4 van

Looking for a 2008 or newer 4x4 van. Prefer cargo/panel, not passenger. flexible on mods and upgrades. Doesn't need to be built out inside. does need to be dead nuts reliable and no rust or weird issues. Located in the Front Range, can travel within reason.

best homemade van build forum, expo forum for van builds seems dead

Colorado is almost as bad now. If you're on 70 or 285 on the weekend headed to the mountains, the bumper to bumper traffic is full of Sprinters and Sportsmobiles. What's funny to me is how many of them you see parked at hotels at night.

    Real MPGs for your rig?

really interesting, the wide variation in reported mpg from the powerstrokes. seems the majority of them are much worse than people tout them to be, not sure it's worth the extra cost over the gas engines for 2-4mpg better.

    Real MPGs for your rig?

I used to have a 91 e350 with a 460. this man speaks the truth. Nothing could stop that thing, but also nothing could stop it from getting 10mpg.

Help me decide if I should pull the trigger or not

I'm gonna go with pass. Not sure why you would buy a truck when you know the engine was run hard with a bad head gasket.

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

guess so. It's taken me all over the CO and UT backcountry and gotten through some hairy situations like it was nothing, so it's not all bad. That damn E-locker button is like a cheat code in a video game when I'm out on the trail. Thinking about turning into a full on trail rig and getting...

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

I hope so. To be fair, I’ve beaten the ******** out of it on trails for quite a few of the 15k miles I’ve put on it.

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

Yeah. I know that now. I’m currently trying to decide whether it’s worth it to keep patching her up. I mean, at this point I essentially need to replace the entire suspension and steering system, plus do a major service, plus fix whatever is going on with the fueling. Considering I only paid...

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

yeah, me. I have a 98 4runner 5 spd/locker I bought with 177k in January. Everyone on the interwebs said, HOLY ******** BUY IT< THE MILES ARE SO LOW, IT"LL RUN FOREVER!!!!! It now has 192k. I've replaced the MAF, IAC, throttle body, ITRE's, OTRE's, LBJ's, right rear wheel bearing, steering rack...

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

I don't have anything against them. just saying what that trailer looks like to me. Although I do think PT Cruisers are atrocious.

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

someone down the street from my house has a black one of these. I wondered what the story was. looks like a PT Cruiser had sex with a Honda Element and the offspring was a camper trailer.

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

I wouldn’t be buying new. Never have, never will. I’ll either find a solid conversion like a sportsmobile or do it myself on an Econoline. I just flipped one after driving it for about 6 months and learned a lot from the process, so I have a pretty solid idea what I would go for.

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

yeah it's usually just me, or me and the wife. sometimes with the dog. Dog keeps getting bigger and pretty soon I don't think the 3 of us are going to fit back there anymore. Maybe I'll go back to a 4x4 van at that point. We have a half time 4 yr old. When she starts coming with us on trips it...

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

I took out the back seats in my 4runner and just sleep back there. It's so cozy, I sleep better in my truck than I do in my house. Bonus points for not having any setup time once I get where I'm going.

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

This is why I got rid of my 4x4 E-350. Thing was rad but I only used it as intended about once every two months...or less. The rest of the time the 4runner was more than sufficient (and better on trails). If I'm really honest, 90% of the time, a sedan or wagon would do and the 4runner isn't...

anyone ever imported a diesel HiLux to the US?

I'm sort of in this spot right now. My 98 4runner with 192k seems like it needs a new part every time I drive it out of the driveway. The engine runs and runs and runs, trans is still doing pretty well, but damn if I haven't replaced nearly everything on the suspension and the rest of it needs...
