My bumper is bolted and welded on, winch plate is welded to the bumper & frame, and the winch is bolted on with four 3/8" Grade 8 bolts & nuts.
I've had my 6,800 lb. rig stuck good enough to stall my Warn 9.5xp and eventually break my new Viking synthetic rope.......but those four small bolts...
Looks good.
I almost went this route, but then decided to have the floor pan Line-X'd instead........I also hate carpet in any rig that's going to be leaving the pavement on a regular basis.
That's how I wired them, all on at once. They won't be so bright that it's blinding, more like subtle light.......call it mood lighting if you will :D. That's why I like mine on the key fob, they're perfect for giving the campsite a little light without disturbing the neighbors.
For...
I personally think a Tundra is the best platform.....but that's just me and could be a slightly bias opinion :sombrero:!
I agree that a JK fits the bill nicely.....that's why we are currently looking at getting "the girl" a JK Rubicon.......I believe my garage may spontaneously combust with...
Mine have been through pure hell for over a year and I've never had one even think about coming off, you can hardly pull them off on purpose because the magnets are so strong........they won't "fall" off if they are stuck to a metal surface.
I've actually got all of mine wired to a relay under the hood that's operate with a key fob.
I like being able to turn on the lights from the tentcot so I can see where everything's at when I go out :).
Man that bridge used to make me nervous, especially while driving my heavy junk across it.

Yep! That's what we were talking about when I heard that Zenith had been closed. At least we can still go explore Pickett State park as of now...........
Hey Joel, good to run back across you guys - Andrea and I were talking about that trip last weekend!
I got to do some wheeling in my driveway yesterday......good times :)!
Tundra's actually have two speed sensors for different purposes I believe, it's been a long time since I messed with it, but I remember having to make my own wiring diagram when I was building my rig.
Mine actually uses a Jeep TJ gear-driven speed sensor in the Atlas T-case, and then runs...
So the FJ's use a gear driven speed sensor? Interesting, the 1st Gen Tundra's use an electronic sine wave speed sensor, so there's no gears that can be changed.
I would personally use an Abbott ERA....but that's just me -

It's $170, but it's bullet proof. I've had mine for about seven years and it's been through four tire size changes and gear changes and is still dead nuts on. Simple to set and change.
I have a JET...
