Great job... As I've been working on my own skate bearing drawers and have had to scrap my initial effort for all but the drawers themselves, I am glad to see yours are coming out well.
Btw. .. By retired tanker do you mean tank (m1 Abram etc) or like a truck carrying liquid?? :)
You are correct sir, drivers side is predominantly a slide for the fridge. It has been more of a hassle to think through than I'd like to admit but I'm getting there. Because my fridge, and I'd assume most, is fairly tall it makes for an interesting challenge on where to place it. I wanted to be...
My 01 XJ drawers have begun...
After a lot (LOT!!!!) of other work on the jeep I have finally got to the fun part of building my drawers. Not sure yet how they will turn out but I'm hopeful it won't be to bad.
Reshaped the floor to give me more area under the drawers for storage and who knows...
Welcome back sir! Seems we travel in similar jeep lanes. My xj cracked it's head. Scored a class motor and have been putting mine all back together for the last couple months.
Since your back...I have a question for you about your drawer system. I'm almost ready to begin mine and wonder if you...
Thanks TrekboxX. I picked up a sheet of 16ga steel for other jeep sheetmetal needs and think ill build out of it. I also grabbed 3 sticks of 16ga 1x1 tubing which will be for most of the frame. I guess ill play with the design and see how it goes.
Next thought is the drawer size. Obviously they...
Thanks rayra, that makes sense I suppose. :)
So next question involves the rail affixed to the drawer that goes between the bearing rows. Is there any better place for this? Top or bottom or middle of the drawer side??
So it's time to begin the slide out drawers in my XJ. I'm turning my 4 door into a permanent 2 seater so the drawers will go from the back of the seats to the rear hatch. So my main question is this:
Should I mount the bearings to the frame, the drawer, or will either be the same??
Hey Craig, do you happen to still have the original axle you swapped out of your 101 trailer? I just won 4 on government liquidation but they have no hubs, bearings, etc. I'm looking for part numbers and was hoping you could advise? Let me know via pm if you don't mind. Thanks a bunch!
Yup, I've managed about a dozen over the years not counting these lil ones. Usually units don't realize they are part of BII/OCIE and are supposed to be retained for accountability. I'd try and find a home for the good ones but was often told "we don't want those". :/ oh well.
This does sound like an interesting idea. Wonder if there is a way to get pelican specific plastic to use as the fill. Kinda like different metals require different welding rods.?.
Rgr that. This one actually looks brand new, never used but it'll still get a good cleaning.
I remember when I got my monster fridge from Rover trader it was a mil plasma unit and it was still packed in the box. Guess this is just our taxes buying stuff that isn't as needed as originally...
So I was futzing around on government liquidation yesterday and saw this was being auctioned. [emoji33]
I didn't know the brand (fridgefreezer) but took a risk as it looks new/unused. And the military tends to buy the most expensive.
So lucky me I found out this morning I won! Be heading up...
I wonder what pelican does? Don't they have like a lifetime warranty or something? You send them your damaged one and they fix or replace it.??
I have about a dozen small (1150 cases?)
that were used as switch boxes for pyrotechnics. I'd love to repair the holes that were added instead of...
Between 18 (and counting) years in the Army and spending a dangerous amount of time wandering around on government liquidation, I have a LOT of mil spec storage stuff.
Pelican cases are probably the first thing that comes to mind with Expedition in mind. Shapes and sizes are vast and their...
