(Another) Forest Living Suburban Build Thread

Ok, hate to sound like a 'tard.... what are those trashbag holders on the rear tail gate called? I'm drawing blanks and looking to purchase.

Bigger is better? Long vs short bed

Yet another .02 cents thrown in. The 8' bed is really nice for camping in, plenty of space to work with and design to your needs. If I was a few inches shorter, I could probably make a sleeping area that covered the width instead of sleeping along the length. That might change some of the design...

Lets see some full size pictures...

Attempting to use imgur now for pictures. Let's see how this posts. Pictures never tell the true steepness of a hill, do they? We were up and around Blue Lake, in the Grouse Ridge area of the high Sierra. Take the hwy20 exit, Eagle Lakes, Cisco Grove exits off i80 near the state line and head...

    Give a Dreamer Advice

Full size rigs aren't usually considered for good times. My 1994 dodge 2500 4x4 with the dana 40 front axle and the 9.25 Chrysler rear end is pretty capable and gets me to all places that aren't extremely tight. The engine is the 316 magnum, a solid and dependable and easy to work on engine. The...

HELP!! Dana 44 front diff drain plug is stuck. 2nd gen Ram 2500

Appreciate all the help and thought from this wonderful form. Went ahead and got a Spectre 'performance' Dana 44 diff cover off amazon. Let's hope this fixes it.... and gives me a bit of shiny bling to go get muddy.

HELP!! Dana 44 front diff drain plug is stuck. 2nd gen Ram 2500

Got home and put a large crescent wrench on it, and the 16mm open ended wrench on it and push up on it with the jack. That wasn't budging the bolt at all, the wrenches kept rounding the corners and slipping off from the torque. More frustration. I'm going to call my mechanic for any hidden...

HELP!! Dana 44 front diff drain plug is stuck. 2nd gen Ram 2500

I tried putting the lug nut wrench through the closed wrench portion and use that to torque. I wasn't successful. Is that what you meant? I'm done hammering and heating. I've never understood how expanding the metal is going to loosen the bolt, but I'm Canadian, so what do I know. I'll go snag...

HELP!! Dana 44 front diff drain plug is stuck. 2nd gen Ram 2500

And is driving me ************* insane! I've used a quarter can of penetrating oil and let it soak overnight, heated on it with a butane torch till it ran out, banged on it with a hammer, torqued a wrench on it... I can't get the thing to budge. I need to fill my dana 44 front axle on the 1994 Dodge...

1/2 ton trucks with 7700 GVWR

I drive a 1994 Dodge 2500 5.2l magnum. Classified as a Light Duty truck, with the 9.25 rear axle and the dana 44 front, 3.5 gears. It's essentially a v8 jeep of the same year with a 3/4 long bed frame and body. Around 3k, easy to work on... transmission is the only real downfall (aside from...

    The Wanderers build

Stock Vehicles in the Wild ???

My dodge 2500 LD 4x4 is pretty much stock. A RV battery to handle the stereo is about the only upgrade that has been done to her yet. I have plans, but being on a budget to get clear of life debt means that building a 'rig' is not a priority right now. I'm being told it is in the plans, though...

    Work hard play hard

I like the set up for the tool chest. Giving me ideas for a similar swing system for the cooking station in our truck. I also like the bed platform set up. Could you give a bit more info about that? How does the pulley system get rigged and how does it operate? How do you secure the plywood...

Joshua Tree Solo Run, by OsidePunker

Made me LOL "Checked the size of my balls. Yup, big enough." Many a time on the solo trips I've had to check my balls... sometimes (like after that 20pt turn!) I gotta check my shorts too. Solo overlanding/adventuring is awesome, one of the ways men can test themselves in that age old way that...

Atl-atl's Dodge Ram 2500 Regular Cab Long Bed "documentation" thread.

I of the same mind as huntsonora. I have the 9.25 rear end, not a d60, so how would we check for fit, if we were looking for a set of rims?

    Wandering New Mexico

Ah, such nice pictures of home!! I'm sure you enjoyed Box Canyon, just outside of Cliff/Gila. The little store in Gila used to serve the most amazing sammy's. Really nice to see the river looking strong.

4 Day High Desert Trip - Ojai to Alabama Hills *Very Pic Heavy*

Just made me +2 to my snake recognition skills next time out on the trail. Thanks for the consciousness boost. One of the coolest animal, desert and life experiences I've ever had was when I was weeding the yard at a property in Gila, NM and I reached down to wrap my fingers around a bunch of...
