    2006 Trailblazer Build Thread

I usually don't stray into the domestic forum, but I must say this truck is properly cool! If you didn't bin your old headlamps try put some HID projectors into them, the light from HIDs in projectors is a million times nicer when compared to reflector housings

Increasing MPG Idea, For wifes daily driver. Remove front axles

Wouldn't really make a difference, the RHS shaft gets disconnected in 2wd,so it would only be a fractional difference. Your best bet would be to get some higher eco rated tyres, they make a huge difference on my daily driver

Bit more progress on the Sport's looks... bumpers and flares...

You need to put a splash of VHT black on the exhaust tip at the back and it will be 100% spotless then . . . And now I've said that it will bug you every time you see it :victory:

Bit more progress on the Sport's looks... bumpers and flares...

I think they call the black and white look the storm trooper look, and I love it :) Wanted that look for mine but it is white on silver, and I don't trust my spraying skills enough to be durable enough to not all flake off on the first branch I hit

    Calling on Electrical Circuit experts.

What DWH said is basically the way I would do it,your method is a small bit over complicated, but I can also see where you are coming from. Are you trying to avoid dropping the headliner to get the wires run,and want to take the feed from the loom going up to the headliner? It is super easy to...

    Calling on Electrical Circuit experts.

Where do you plan on putting them? I did something similar with no switch in my own pajero,I just added holes into the existing contacts each side of the bulb holder in the existing interior light, and soldered wires onto them, which lead to LED strip light. So if you just add a switch into the...

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I'll scrawl out a schematic over the weekend. I'll try get the part numbers of the diodes too

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I made my own lockup for my 2nd gen, just used a relay that engages the solenoid with a momentary push button, and disengages it when the brake is pressed,no PWM needed. It will also lock up when the ECU decides it needs to as usual. I've had it in 2.5 years with no issues caused. towed a 12,000lb...

The Three Amigo's - Weird electrical fault

It must be,earth is usually used in mains electric speak, but here it seems to be used for cars too. Never actually thought about it until now,and I work in electronic design, and always use the term ground there, but always say earth on cars. going to be really noticing that from now on...

The Three Amigo's - Weird electrical fault

Sounds like the regulator could be busted. It's probably a better bet to fit a different alternator if you haven't any faith in that one though. Could also be bad earthing between the body and the battery, had it happen in my Jimny,it would give electrical faults, that would go away on their...

Biodiesel use in overlander rigs- have you tried it? What happened?

I think here now all diesel has some element of bio in it. I used to run on veggie oil and diesel mix in my truck for a couple of years,it would run fine, but smell like fast food out the back. The fuel filter ended up getting replaced fairly frequently for the first while, because it would draw...

Polished the Sport's Headlights & swapped to black grille bezels

You've really transformed the look of that sport from tatty and neglected to pristine and pampered, and what is the beat part is that it was done on a pretty small budget! I must get you over to do mine some time :sombrero:

Looking for some first-hand experience: Diesel LC or Pajero

I've a 2.8 tdi swb and a 3.0 24v lwb, and I would recommend the petrol all day long. The 2.8 feels like you're pushing it against its will to make it accelerate, the petrol felt like it always wanted to go faster. Though the diesel feels torquey it is still underpowered for a rig that...

    Drawing and Design tools

Another draft sight recommendation from me,play with it a little bit and you'll get the knack of it. I've used the windows version of it for work, but I have a mac with the beta, not quite the same, but good enough. Your email will be swamped by mail shots from them though

    Tricky Tachometer

I re soldered all the joints on the PCB behind the rev counter, and it did the trick, some had gone a bit dry.I also made sure the wires on the coil weren't rubbing each other any more. I used end up driving down the road smacking the top of the dash trying to get the rev counter to work,as it...

    Transmission skid plate?

Theres this one that goes under the front diff and front half of the sump, most of them are missing from a lot of the trucks i've seen A friend of mine has a mk2 shorty that came from japan with full length alloy skid plates,I think they were JAOS ones.

    Gov Siezing Old Trucks

It depends on where you are with the way a registration works, over here the registration is tied to the chassis,so if you've a rusty 1991 defender, and put a new chassis under all the original bodywork and running gear you technically have a 2015 defender,in the UK I think it is different. I...

Not enjoying my 80-Series; did I make the wrong choice?

Get a defender, drive it for a month without driving the LC,then start driving the LC,you'll think you're in a Bentley :sombrero: An intercooler is a good addition for some accelerating power as is a pump tweak and a boost increase, but it will always feel a bit strangled cruising at motorway...

    Citizens Band? Why yes!

This is mine, hella cheap because I bought it in a hurry, but it seems to do the job nicely. I realised if i keep the mounting bracket on the bottom, tilted all the way forward it keeps it nice and snug in the cubby, and the speaker can be heard more clearly. The antenna is just on a magmount on the...

Extra low Auxilary side steps for lifted vehicles. Do they exist? How do I find?

Maybe see can a defender folding step be modified to fit onto your rails. I think the biggest issue you will find is getting the step far enough away from the running board to make it more like stairs than a ladder Beware of bolting Defender parts onto a mitsubishi,I did and within a year I...
