Have you checked wheel bearings for any play (lift the front axle and check for any play by pulling and pushing each wheel at 6 & 12 o'clock) in them? When was the axle rebuilt (bearings,gaskets, new grease) last? Tie rods tight? If caster was accomplished how did he get there?

Rig something up, and check your voltage with a cig lither or voltmeter as you drive ...on both batteries.......
You should be getting 14v + on (each) both batteries....
You just might be lucky to have one of them smart alternators.....
What is your alternator rated output ?

If you are experiencing over heating mainly during low speed climbs a fan should be used.... i would get the biggest cooler (think bigger surface area better heat dissipation) that you can fit.... in front of rad?

You might want to move the sleeping bags and pillows to the middle of the tent.... and if you haven't already done so dont zip-up the side doors shot...
I manage to close mine with some effort, but i also have three sleeping bags up there.. and one air pillow...

I say look for a local fabricator and have it build something to your liking....
With that said.. a tire repair patch kit and air compressor should be part of your tool kit... if it isn't already...
I would go with option #2... but add the overload springs...
Last year i did just that... but used the overload springs with 3/4" lift and 1/2" spacers......
Really happy with the end result...
