I have never wished I had windoors. I guess it has to do with how you organize your gear, and how you feel about more potential points of entry into the rear space
The windows in the Leer shell are held together by screws through the inside window surround, into aluminum in the outer window assembly. Two dozen screws hold the whole thing together. I just put another two dozen screws in between them, with fender washers for the screw heads, and metal...
Timely necrothread. I recently installed expanded metal grating as part of making my truck shell a more secure place. Somewhere along the line it occurred to me that many sizes of it are MOLLE-compatible.
It does look a bit like a prison transport, but doesn't feel that way as I camp in the...
That's exactly what I did. I mounted a bracket to the inside glass with 3M industrial sticky tape, heated with hot air before install. Install was simple, just provide a short loop of free wire for the window to pivot. I liked this better than a fixed bracket, as it pivots safely out of the...
I have a DC/LB that I've spent many many months sleeping in. My quick opinion is that if sleeping in it is a priority, get the long bed. The ability to jump in back of a normal-looking truck (no RTT, popped-up camper, etc) is priceless. Back of nowhere, middle of the city, it's just a truck...
Contact paper or shelf lining paper on the inside of the windows works. Easy to install, easy to remove with no gunk, cheap ($2 a roll?). They even make silvery stainless-look paper that reflects a bit of heat.
I have the Aluminess front bumper and winch. The bottom of the winch, where the line feeds, is exactly between the frame rails. It just doesn't look like that because of the slant on the exterior. I don't think it's a good fit for roller-type fairleads, just because of how they stick out...
Look at gun safes and lockboxes. They come in every shape and size imaginable. Not all for guns necessarily, but should give you plenty of ideas.
Another option, if you can mount a hardpoint - a short length of heavy chain from the hardpoint to (for instance) the lock shackles of a Pelican...
Gone, much prefer it without (with my current suspension setup, Dakar HDs and Fox adjustable in back, Icon COs in front). Without a very well controlled suspension I'd leave it on.
I carry 4 20L MFCs on the roof, flat on their sides and they never leak even in ridiculous desert sun. When I don't need them, they stay in the garage. Cheap (total invested about $150?), simple, easy to share with others.
Was there a new storm? I spent a week in the park a couple weeks ago, came over Steel Pass, and exited the south pass. There was almost zero snow anywhere in the park, and just tiny patches in the shade on the south pass.
Odd... the VR8000 is spec'ed out as a lower-end product, but Amazon has both the M8000 and VR8000 for the same price. In that case it's a no-brainer. (I've been thrilled with my M8000 on my Tacoma, but I definitely wouldn't want a SLOWER winch like the VR)
You can input a fudge factor for gearing (adjusting the Vehicle Speed Sensor input) and fuel volume (adjusting computed MPG). In my case, I kept a log for six months of fill-up volume from the pump vs reported on the scangauge. Over that six months I came up with a 11.4% average fuel...
