absolutely nothing wrong with the Toyota D4D 2.5L and 3.0L diesels in the current model Hilux, good enough for every other damn place in the world (except us of course)
details on those extended ball joints?
One complaint about the Light Racing ball-joint arms that I came across researching this topic: slippage on the camber/caster adjustment. Spend some time googling them; what I read was enough to steer me away
I see Camburg is now making a ball-joint...
When the winch cable is pulled out straight and level midwrap, it doesn't contact the fairlead at all. Full wrap or first wrap, there's a few degrees of deflection one way or the other. Not sure how it could be better aligned than that.
If the whole thing was designed completely differently...
I have lengths of dark grey felt from the fabric store, self-stick squares of hook-side velcro stuck to the window frames in strategic spots. The felt sticks right to it. The velcro glue will fail after three hot summers or so, just stick more on. I used to sew (or just staple!) the hook-side...
I keep my air compressor in a small ammo can. Fits perfect with a sheet of 3/8" blue foam camping pad on all sides and top just to prevent metal-on-metal wear inside the can.
My truck did it bone stock as well. Like you say, battery, gas tank. I mount my heavy gear (canned goods, hi lift, recovery chains etc) on the right side to help a little. The best solution is front preload-adjustable coilovers.
Hello folks. I haven't posted here much but have been lurking for a while. But since there was just a group deal on Aluminess bumpers on another Toyota site and I just went through my install with a fine-toothed comb, I thought it might be useful to post my findings here.
First off, this is a...
I'll grab some photos but I just did a review of the bumper and winch install on another forum so I'll paste in the relevant part here:
I relocated my solenoid box into the driver's side engine bay, right behind the fuse box. It comes with three short 2ga cables (yellow, green, blue) and two...
Funny you should post this now, I'm doing mine right now. Warn 8000, 2005 Tacoma. I'm rearranging the cables that come with it, short ones from the battery to the box (just behind the fuse box), then long ones out to the motor. Ordered two additional 0AWG cables for the long cable run.
Main...
Curious about this as I'm doing the same soon. I want to keep my Megawarrior as low profile as possible, and mounting the tracks directly under the megawarrior rails would be simple as heck. But I would have to drill through the thicker honeycombed part. What happens if you do?
also re: stealth in a couple different posts above: I cut lengths of black felt to black out the windows. buy some self-stick velcro, cut out some lengths of the hook-side to stick around the window frames, and the felt sticks to the hooks by itself. I black out all the windows while I'm in...
5" ikea foam mattress with fitted zippered cotton cover, cut down to fit perfect between the wheel wells, with a few thermarest camping matts underneath
the shelf is 2x10 planks with gray industrial carpet stapled on, with huge patches of velcro stapled on top of that. the velcro holds the...
looks a little cramped for two...
I like (and use) this style:

The shelf is just so flexible, and it's SO comfortable for two people to live in there. Or 1 + dog if you like.
