    FG's in Action

Personally at an OHV park I believe it is acceptable but otherwise certainly not. What wheels are they on Earthcruiser? On Canter diffs or Others? Dan.

    A/C on-off knob questions

Okay, like I said pictures don't tell the whole story. And sorry, I'm not going to pull mine apart to see what holds it together. When you do find out please let us all know. Dan.

    What Jack do you carry?

First drive the flat tyre up on to a suitable block of wood to raise it high enough to get the jack under the axle/spring plate. Under the spring near the axle tube is also a suitable position for jacking. That 12 tonner is way over kill for a canter, we're not trying to lift the whole vehicle...

    A/C on-off knob questions

A little bit of light grease will hold the springs and the plate in place and together while you try to reinsert it in it's place. But don't shake it while you have it upside down. What clips it together I don't know. One spring is twisted and the plate looks like it is melted on one edge...

    Front wheel bearing preload

I don't do it the way the manual says but it is correct. I do it by feel been doing it for years. A piece of string wrapped around the wheel studs and pull it with a spring scale. It should start to rotate at 4 -7.7 Lbs pull and if you keep pulling it, the scale should settle at 2.2 +/- 0.7...

    Canter not starting

Glad you brought this thread here to this forum. I've been watching. Lots of info but being as it it is common rail, I don't have a lot of info. The photos are bad but the two electrical connectors look to be the ones for "high and low range" and "4WD" switches. If you follow the wires do they...

That's the only setup I've seen. Dan.

    Driveshaft flange nuts

Yes, you don't need to remove the drive flange so don't loosen it and yes, I have reused the O-ring before. It seals between the flange and the output shaft, if you were worried about a leak there you could use a little sealant on it. I reuse the nuts all the time no big problem, they are only...

Out of the box thinking : fuel economy improvements ; fg649

It's all good, I thought you would work it out or someone would enlighten you. And yes I came from just under 18l/100 (17.95) to 15.9. Dan.

Out of the box thinking : fuel economy improvements ; fg649

My biggest fuel economy increase was when I regeared my transfer case. Made close to 2 Litres/100K's improvement highway cycle. Improved offroad ability also with lower Low Range gearing. Dan.

    Emergency brake

They may be Fuso specific but saying that they look like normal pins with a U-shaped wafer washer (could use springs and washer instead). This I have seen in other brake setups. The pin length would be the biggest concern. Dan.

    Emergency brake

Okay, as "canter tourer" says two extra bolts. Dan.

    Emergency brake

Still the same deal. Noise while you are driving around will tell you a lot if something is getting caught. Reversing back at that point may shift it again to not be a problem. Not that hard to investigate. Remove the four nuts that hold the tailshaft to the handbrake drum, slide that end of...

    Emergency brake

Other than the spring if broken may get caught between the linings and drum badly scoring it. Dan.

Success! Need Mitsubishi Fuso FG special tool - Desparate

A normal long reach 50mm socket fits it, but I use a 3/4" drive one as the torque required to tension it is really high for a 1/2" drive. Dan. PS:- Need a set of High Speed Gears for your transfer case. I still have a set available.
