    Tire Carrier and your thoughts

Interesting. Does the latch rattle? I would be interested to see the hinges. I would start with fixing the tire mount to utilize 3 bolts and have the correct back spacing for your tire/wheel. It is my guess that for light duty use with a light/small tire this would last but much more and I...

    ? about adj. short arms

JKS for ride quality but they're expensive. With only 2" or so lift you could probably adjust your caster with the factory mount adjustments (if even necessary) and call it good with the factory arms. I dont beleive that you will see a big enough difference to warrent their necessity. That...

Mustang Injectors on an XJ 4.0L?

The 5.0 injectors are only a mod for the 87-90 renix 4.0 5.0 injectors in a '91+ 4.0 would be a decrease in flow. 10 years ago this was a great sub $100 mod for these engines with leaky injectors and/or hard starting issues. Im sure there are better options out there now, doubt for less money...

    Improving 4.0l MPG

on your Renix 4.0 a set of Ford 5.0 injectors is about the best thing you can do for the engine. I saw 1-2 more mpg with these on my old 1990 XJ and it seemed to start easier and run better. I installed a Borla header, hi flow cat and exhaust, "cold air intake" and had minimal improvements...

    Bolt on Power and MPG

I bought the injectors from a local shop but pretty sure Summitracing would have them. IIRC it was less that $100 for 6 of them and the install was only an hour or so. The Airflow snorkel uses different mounting and I dont think it would cover the holes left from the ARB. I have seen an ARB...

1999 XJ Question: New Shocks and Budget Boost

I did a similar lift on one of my XJs with ZJ V8 upcountry coils, and rear XJ upcountry leafs with a 1" JKS shackles. I would go their route with the leafs instead of the shackle as it changed the DL angle just enough to create some vibs and was still a little soft. Great way to go on a budget.

    Help?

I have sleeved the frame on my last XJ and while it was a worthwhile mod it didnt help stiffen things up as much as installing cut out rock rails. But neither are going to do much for the hatch area. A cage is really the only way to stiffen the body back up. A cage properly tied into the body...

    Bolt on Power and MPG

I had my 1990 XJ pretty dialed. renix 4.0 w/auto ford MS 5.0 injectors (best mod) Airflow snorkle (also a good mod) Borla header Rustys 2.5 flowmaster eshaust w/ hi flow cat 4.56 gears and 33s Had plenty of power and was capable of 20mpg even loaded down and up and down passes. best mods were...

mods you wouldnt do again ...

Had the same thing happen with the calipers on my D44 with Wilwood brakes. They make nice stuff but not enough tolerance for off road use. The pads make terrible noise when dusty and I havent been able to get the front/rear braking power proportioned right with the other problems I have...

    El Cheapo tire deflator

That Currie unit is pretty nice but my valve stem remover tool was only a couple bucks and is the best i have used. And is a tool you should have anyway IMO. Just pull the valve stem, check the pressure drop with your tire guage and put it back in when you get down the desired PSI. Simple, fast...

    XJ caster issue

If you didnt get the adjustable arms, you might get enough out of the LCA frame end adjustment. 7* is probably out of the question but I have found 5* a good compromise.

    XJ drive-line vibration issue

It is not uncommon for a mail order DL to be out of balance. (not to call any one brand out...) If thats covered now and the shop has inspected the CV joint including the center ball move to making sure the angles are correct as said above. Shim the axle to have the pinion 1-2 degrees flatter...

    Too Much Weight For Reliability?

I am very happy with the Alcan leaf packs. they look high quality and they perform high quality. They will sit higher than you asked for a time period dependant on how often and loaded down you go. But once they settle they will stay put and not keep going like other packs I have had. With...

    Too Much Weight For Reliability?

Sorry if I affended you implying your jeep was stock. I was more refering to its weight and heavy weight bearing modifications such as a full roll cage, tube flares, rocker guards, full quarter corner protection w tube flares, much heavier axles such as D60s and heavier tires that usually yeild...

    Too Much Weight For Reliability?

There might be a thing or two I missed but.. And this is XJ based experience so I think the ratings might be a bit higher from the factory but the axles remain the same. my personal opinion is: the weight seems a bit high for a basically stock rig on 31s... My whole family (4 people w/ dog)...

Wheel Bearing/Hub for '96 Jeep GC

Sorry to be that guy but have gotten a bad batch, yes batch of Timken hubs I feel they are WAY over rated. There was a period of time where I was warrenteeing a hub every couple of months. Dont know the issue or if it was a flaw that Timken has corrected etc but I have been running a set of OEM...

What winch will fit in a XJ ARB bumper?

AZTACO looks like the passenger side needs the treesaver trick and it will look like new again. treesaver trick is simply looping the end of the treesaver over the bumper end and running over the strap to pull the bumper back down straight again. Would be amazed how well it works.(use 4low)...
