    Electric Jeep

Thats pretty cool, gotta get a conversion price to do the math... a WR250 would cost about $2 per day (30 miles round trip) to commute on...:roost:... funner too. My Dodge is just under $6 per day.:(

Need an XJ frame reinforcement suggestion

To properly repair the damage and prevent it from happening again the JKS kit is hard to beat as it pretty much rebuilds the whole steering box area. I dont know the details of the damage but it is important that you have that area reinforced for any XJ that has bigger than stock tires, let...

    Tire Clearance

Rubicon wheels have 5" of back spacing. The best all around back spacing for an XJ on 33s is 4.5" if you are looking to purchase new wheels.

Tint Your Expedition Vehicle Or Not?

I believe tint in moderation to be the best option. 20-30% seems to be a good balance for me, but I'm in Washington.

    XJ-Keeping the stock flares

I have noticed quite a bit of interest in swapping out the stock flares for aftermarket, larger cutout flares to accommodate larger tires and provide coverage. I would like to share the possibility of retaining the stock flares with up to a 35" tire yet still provide coverage and clearance...

    Snorkels mpg/ performance gains

One additional comment to my post above. I tried using the intake top mounted facing the rear of the vehicle and noticed a decrease in performance.. possibly equal to that I gained from adding the snorkle. So not much but noticeable to me. What do you think about a cowl intake...

    Snorkels mpg/ performance gains

With the addition of the Airflow snorkle, I noticed better highway speed cruising power and am sure it played a part in acheiving 20mpg on a consistent basis with 33s, 4.56:1 gears and being loaded down to over 5k. Throttle response, increased acceleration etc werent really anything that jumped...

Question on Leaky Dana 44 Wheel Seals

A few things to consider... When the ARB is engaged does the compressor cycle as to indicate a leak? if so and the vent is plugged the air/oil has to go somewhere. When the ARB was installed were the drain back slots cut into the housing? This proceedure is mandatory or the axle tubes can...

    XJ brakes & steering upgrade

There are no 1 ton TREs with an offset that i know of. Could be wrong though. The reason for the inserts breaking was unknown to me but they cracked right below the flange at the thinnest spot. I welded them in properly, flushed the bottem with the knuckle so they wouldnt have all the load on...

    XJ brakes & steering upgrade

I used the Go fer it inserts and broke every one of them. I then got some HM Engineering inserts which I beleive were a special order that Blaine put together years ago. Not sure if these are available but they are made from a much higher grade material. These have yet to give me trouble...

    XJ brakes & steering upgrade

I have been running the Wj conversion for maybe 6 years using the JKS bracket, a cut down RE track bar and frame bracket. While yes Blaine is correct the geometry is off with using a shorter track bar than the drag link you need to determine whether all that additional work is needed for your...

Detroit TruTracs- Front and Rear- Anyone?

I ran a true track in the front of my XJ for a few months and was impressed how well it worked. using the brake method is not a myth, much to my suprise. I only used it a few times but was able to lock up the diff and pull the jeep up the obstacle, even with one side off the ground completely...

Questions about lift/tire size on an XJ

my last XJ had 2" lift and 245/75R16s with a factory lsd in the rear(almost worthless) and it was very capable. this combo is about the limit for keeping a reliable DD on the cheap. Larger tires= the need to regear(if you care about efficency and power), fender trimming and/or extended bump...

Rock slider designs. Kick outs or no Kick outs?

Rock rails with the full length kickout is the tried and true method of wagon owners in the northwest. We use rock rails to pivot off of trees and rocks to navigate through our tight twisty trails.

OME XJ 2-3" lift kit ?'s

    1. lowering the t case will be hit or miss. Check u joint condition and grease them and lube the slip yoke as they can get bound up on the newer XJs. About 3" is where an adjustable track bar becomes a desire as the axle starts to shift to the drivers side. Do not get a drop bracket, drop...
