First Trailer Build - Design Phase

Dude, that is going to be awesome! I've never seen a trailer with steering capabilities, that is cool. I'd go the other direction, I'm great on the computer and good with fabrication, but I'm all self taught and don't have the engineering side down which is why I tend to overbuild. I'm really...

First Trailer Build - Design Phase

I'd love to see your design, sounds cool. I got few minutes today to finish the hard sided pop top layout. I'm pretty happy with this design, I'll go ahead and figure the estimated weight soon. Finished the pop top design, as stated inspired by asorensen. 2 100w solar panels are sitting on...

First Trailer Build - Design Phase

Started making a few changes to the design based upon feedback, it's a work in progress, but already improving. changes: 1. I made the trailer octagonal, this will allow me to move the slide-out mechanism inside where it will be protected from the elements. this will provide tons of storage...

First Trailer Build - Design Phase

You're absolutely correct that this would take me a while and I too want to enjoy it. I already have a RTT and a smaller trailer isn't ruled out. I'm just a big dreamer and am hard to please. I really am thinking about doing an aluminum super structure and steel rolling frame. I've already got...

First Trailer Build - Design Phase

I'm currently thinking about using a few scissor hinges to provide lateral support and gas struts to keep it up. I could use 4 electric rams, but I kind of just want to keep it manual and simple.

First Trailer Build - Design Phase

I've begun thinking of how I would like to build my soft road trailer. I'm hoping to keep the foot print small while still providing a comfortable size. To accomplish this I have built my trailer around a pop up and a slide out. The trailer requirements are: Towable behind JKU Full size bed...

Show me your custom fridge slides

That design requires custom bent heavy aluminum or stainless sheeting. I couldn't find anyone to bend it for a reasonable price. We just did a 9 day vacation through Big Sur, Yosemite and Sequoia. The slide and table worked fantastic. Cooking lunch at Morro Rock Ca Fresh ground and pressed...

DIY Ladder extensions show me what you got

I wouldn't do that, those cheap aluminum ladders need the overlap. I think my tuff stuff locks around a foot is or so, it's not fully extended in his photo. I use a Tepui extension for my Tuff Stuff, works great and still fits under the cover.

    G4Free Ultralight Camping Chair

I have a set of these and love them. Their build seems great, they pack away to nothing and are quite comfortable although my wife wishes they had arms when sitting around the campfire holding our 4 month old all evening. I think there are some photos in my build thread listed below. Don't...

    Rebuilding Old Coleman Stoves

I have the same issue with mine. I've found after cooking I must immediately open the cap and relieve the pressure then while the cap is still loose tip the brass tip up in the air while opening the valve to let any fuel drain back into the tank. After about 10-15 seconds I turn it off and close...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

That really looks great, I'm set on building a trailer next. Did you build yourself or purchase?

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

I actually thought about it, but my CO2 take was low and I wasn't sure I'd be able to fully air up again. With all the weight and crazy mountain passes I didn't want to risk it.

Highlights from our most recent trip... Many more to come when I'm not exhausted. Big Sur Cooking lunch at Morro Rock Little river crossing (a random was taking photos as I was crossing, he nicely texted me the shots) Morning Joe Yosemite Valley Sequoia Tree Tunnel (no I couldn't...

    Rtt bedding

Tepee has fitted sheets, maybe one of their tents uses the same layout as the Big Sky. I have a Mammoth Teton Sleeping bag and love it. I keep it in the tent full time.

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

I've enjoyed watching your build and wish you all the luck in Africa. I'll be following your posts. I understand the bumpers, but why leave the highlift behind? Such a valuable tool when used correctly.

Show me your custom fridge slides

I don't know the measurements off the top of my head, but I doubt it'll fit your 65L, the Arctec cooler has a smaller foot print that most 50L fridges.

    Tuff Stuff RTT review

Nothing special, they advertise it locally on Craigslist. It would be fine with 2 adults and a child, tight with 3 adults unless said adults were 2 other women :wings: Also, I'm 6'1 and I don't come close to the edge, you'll fit a 6'5" just fine.

    **Tepui RTTs and Accessories**

Boy was I wrong, but I like my usage better. I guess that explains why they have loops on their ends.
