I was thinking driveline, which is why I had Toyota look at it. Unfortunately they were short-staffed that day and only swapped tires/wheels. Then it took them an hour and a half to get them back on. I stuck a GoPro underneath to see if I could see any obvious problems while driving, but I...
So I've been struggling with an annoying noise for quite some time. In the past it was more in the background but now it's getting worse and is driving me nuts. I can best describe it as "whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp..." that follows speed of the wheel, not revs on the engine. It's getting to...
Honestly I didn't use Locktite at all when I mounted the bumper. I wasn't sure if I'd have to remove it to get the winch hooked up or not so I didn't bother with it. Perhaps I should go back and use some blue on the hardware?
So did everything line up when you mounted the bumper? Mine was dead on....it was perfect. I've heard good things about Superwinch, and so far I've been pleased with mine though I haven't needed to use it for actual recovery yet so I really haven't tested it. Moving the control box is easy...
It is. If I were to do it over again I would've bought the Total Chaos ball joint press tools instead of using the kit from Autozone. They would've made it much easier. Also, I had to use a cheater bar to get the ball joints out. Getting the Camburg ones in wasn't too bad though.
I love my Camburg arms. They've never made any noise at all. Hopefully your stock hardware isn't as rusted as mine was.....getting all my old suspension out was a nightmare.
Nframe1961 and vonguido, thanks for the feedback and for following along. It's all a learning process for me right now and I'm enjoying it.
I picked up my Technician license for Ham radio last year but haven't done much with it. I decided to upgrade my antenna because I could hardly pick up...
I agree with bkg, that is really clean wiring. If you're debating about soldering I would say go ahead and do it. It doesn't take more than a few minutes and you wouldn't be second-guessing yourself later on.

Paul, did you feel any difference with a leaking steering rack? Mine is leaking around the driver's boot but steering seems fine and I'm not loosing any PS fluid. It'll have to be done eventually I'm sure, but if everything is working does it need it now? I don't have time to spend all day...
Onegen - With the miles on the truck, be aware that there are some maintenance things you may need to address as well. Any idea when the timing belt was done last, if at all? Every 90K is what is recommended. Lower ball joints would be another thing to inspect and replace if necessary. Tie...
15 minutes or so is all it took. And I'm mechanically challenged, so it should be faster for anyone else. One piece of advice: get the spare out of the way. I left it in there and it was in the way the whole time. Also, you'll need a decent length of hose....I'd get at least 10 ft to be safe...
Finally got around to doing the super-easy diff breather extension on my rear axle. I removed the factory breather, confirmed that it wasn't clogged by blowing air through it, and replaced it with this union on the diff...
Yay for Brute Force Fab bumpers! The build quality is excellent as you've probably noticed.
I don't have an answer for you regarding your specific coils, but I'd think that the heavier coils will probably be better. I don't have the side hoops on my bumper, and I'm somewhere close to...
Let me tell you my experience with getting a high-mileage 1st Gen Tundra. Be prepared to spend a lot in repairs. Mine is a 2005 Limited, bought at 170K miles. Things that had to be done since I bought it a little over two years ago: timing belt and water pump and radiator (~$1200), replace...
Finally have some dry roads and halfway decent weather, so time for a follow up on the sliders. For anyone with a Gen1 Tundra considering the BruteForce Fab sliders, hopefully these pictures will give you an idea of how they look and fit.
From the side...They stick down past the lower edge of...
Thanks! I had my friend weld them on the other day, and I've slowly been getting used to them. I got so used to having nothing there that now I have to remember that the sliders stick out some, so that I don't bash my knees all the time.
Not a great picture, but gives you a general idea of...
