Got a Gen 1 LWB, what now?

Been working on the paint, its coming back better than expected. Still need to order the passenger rear door and fix some dents. Got a really good deal on some Toyo 265/70R17 winter tires because Az doesn't winter. I'll give them a try up in the snow this year and see if they actually make a...

What years are considered the Gen 2.5 Montero?

At the same time, the 2000 doesn't come with a locker which means you can get an ARB air locker for it without having to source an axle shaft. The ARB is stronger and will be serviceable longer.

What years are considered the Gen 2.5 Montero?

Japan is a year ahead so they got the Blister Fender (the official designation) starting in '97 AND in India and a few other countries ran until 2015 as the Pajero SFX. Stateside is '98-00.

Been a while but maybe PA_JERO will chime in because he just did his. Basically you take out the ABS motor and install a hardline or two in it's place, see how easy i make that sound? ;)

is his head in the sand?

While I agree Chrysler engines are crap, Monteros don't have Chrysler engines. I've been wanting to get into rovers, fixing all their issues and reselling them by putting 80 series axles, t-case, transmission and Toyota V8. Gutting them of all LR junk.

Just removing the ABS, it's easy. Some Gen 2's didn't come with ABS so the hardline is an easy thing to just get to bypass the ABS and make room for something cool in the engine bay.

Haven't been able to do much the last couple weeks, fall break had me trying to keep my son entertained then last week my wife was very sick so I've been busy with that. She felt well enough to want to clean up the Gen 1 yesterday so we cleaned and polished that. It actually looks pretty good...

    ARB problems in a Gen3

I would start with the bulkhead fitting, it's easy to check and replace. Check the blue line too, anywhere there is a pass through, bend or contact you may have a leak. Best thing is to run the line through a vacuum tubing to protect it before installing the blue line. Lastly you'll have to pull...

Kay, steering gear isn't sloppy, it's the second one for this truck and i believe it's somewhere in the mid 100k's for mileage i've probably put 30k or so on it with the big tires and being mean to it. No, i don't really remember what it cost to ship those but it wasn't terrible.

30x9.5's on stock Gen 2 LS wheels, they still look really small. 31x10.5's will be a lot nicer without lift.
