reading some of the reviews on amazon, one idea would be to mount a couple of these under the hood to light up the engine bay at dark times.

I can't say that I've noticed. One thing that might help would be to install a stiffer suspension, that should keep the bump stop from hitting except in only the most extreme compressions. I have the adjustable shocks set to the softest mode here.

This picture is the torsion bar. It runs horizontal. I've never tightened the bars though.. I assume that you lift the front end to take all weight off the bars, then tighten them with equal turns for both driver and passenger sides. **Edit - this is bad advice, you want the car on the ground...

Sometimes the UG takes a little longer to turn on, I usually notice this when at the gas station trying to reset my fuel level... but no problems with it not turning off.... Although, if I do plug it into another car, and then back into my montero, it will sit on the discovering gauges screen...
