Gen 3 rear end screech sound

it looks like something you should be able to recreate by lifting one wheel up and spinning by hand. coming from both sides at the same time is really strange. One thing you might try would be to turn the steering wheel hard one way and see if you can get the noise to replicate. with the wheel...

    Gen 3 debate, 3.5 or 3.8?

Here is a + for the Gen 3 (at least the 3.8L version). You don't have to remove the AC compressor or Hydraulic steering pump to do the timing belt!!! Getting the AC compressor undone is a HUGE pain on the 3.5

Found a Montero couldn't pass it up.

Alternator should be an easy job. As for oil leaks, there are several common spots, rear cam seal, valve cover gaskets, a bit of googling and visual inspection of where it is leaking and you'll be a able to quickly figure out what seal you need to replace.

3rd Gen Montero on Top Gear US

just caught some of the episode, fast forwarded most of the way through. The Montero did look nice with the rack and lower black trim. I'm kind of mixed on this.... you put a montero on a semi popular tv show, and its going to gain some interest, which is going to drive prices up, and make it...

Cool new Montero stuff for my homies

I like to install the flickr app and directly upload to there. Then you can post thumbnails (fairly easily) to the board, but users can click through to see original resolution images. the images uploaded to expo are pretty low resolution.

Front cam and crank seal diameters?

check the part number on amazon too... sometimes they have the sizes listed. Also, think about PVC for installation. I picked up a PVC union to install the pinion gear seal on the rear diff. Worked like a charm

3rd Gen Build In New Mexico ABQ

Looks just like the '03 I bought. Doing similar engine work, although I think I only have 1 bad o2 sensor as of yet. Strange question, do you have a strong vibration if you hold the revs at 2k-2.3k rpm (with car in park)? I've googled it a bit, and it seems like a somewhat common problem with...

    Post your Mitsubishi Pajero Pics

I find that if you put the gear selector in "L" (P,R,N,D,2,L) thats the only way to get engine braking. But the 4.29 gears are not great, it is a fair bit of work, but if you can find an SR you can pull out and swap into 4.63 gears. You can also find Sports with 4.90 gears.

    Mitsubishi Commercials & 4xforum.com

Came across this page while browsing 4xforum.com. This guy Andrew St.Pierre White has as bunch of overlanding videos. I find them quite enjoyable, even though many of the ones he has published to youtube are several years old. The commercials are official Mitsubishi press...

Gen 3 Timing belt brand & cam seals?

Picked up a 2003 Gen 3 (with the 3.8L engine) last week, it has just shy of 150k miles, so I'm sure the timing belt has been done, but I want to do it just to be sure. I've done the timing belt on my gen 2.5, so I know what I'm in for. Looking at rock auto, they have several kits available...

    Monteros on craigslist

sounds like a strange place for a crack.... if it's metal, someone could weld it up. with a picture or two, might be able to give a better go forward strategy.

    Monteros on craigslist

it looks real clean, but as the LS you don't get a locker, and I think the axles are smaller as well, the ring & pinion gear are not the same sizes as from the SR. The locker is really what is going to hold you up on the trail, but the smaller axles will leave you totally stranded if they...
