2020 Jeep Gladiator Sport S Max Tow 16,000 miles $39,995 Portland, Oregon

That has to be one of the most unique and well thought out minimalist set ups I’ve ever seen. Kudos! Can you please tell us how you close the roof would the chimney? I assume you detach the outer chimney, but does the inner one have to be removed as well? Is that some sort of twist lock...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

A full sheet of three-quarter inch plywood weighs between 60 and 80 pounds. After having a Tacoma with terrible payload and overloading it without a camper, I tried really hard for a minimalist build to keep within the slightly less terrible payload of my Tundra. I still ended up at exactly my...

    The Status of Overlanding Today

Most recent case in point is the EP article posted a few days ago on Overland Tote bags. Cheapest was $80 up to $215. Really? We have multiple tote bags that stand up fine at fraction of the cost. Tactical tote bags? Give me a break!

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

I choose not to use a base plate for weight reasons. My cabinet and bench structure is attached to primarily the Toyota bed rail system with only two uprights directly into the truck bed floor. Those are secured with VHB’d 8020 L brackets and are very solid after 2 years. My fridge slide...

What @Kelly M said, but I’ll add one more thing. whatever shocks you settle on its worth springing for compression adjustable shocks. They are really worthwhile.

Big Booty Judy - 2014 DC Tundra Build w OVRLND Camper

I’m guessing you’ll like them. The difference isn’t dramatic for me, but very noticeable and it drives way better, especially on hills and in headwinds.

Big Booty Judy - 2014 DC Tundra Build w OVRLND Camper

Took me 8 months to get Nitro gears installed through SDHQ here. Major shipping delays at the time — from S. Korea I believe. Guess it hasn’t changed at all. Worth the wait though. What did you go with 4.88 or 5.29?

    OME Heavy and Sway Bar?

I saw this a couple of days ago and just re-found it to post here. It’s a very methodical look at the difference between articulation front and rear with and without front and rear sway bars attached in different combinations . Doesn’t really address on road handling. it’s a little surprising...

    OME Heavy and Sway Bar?

Hey @Fergie -- whats the verdict on no sway bars now you have the Ovrlnd on and a little experience with it and no sway bars? I’d really like to ditch mine. I liked not having them in my Tacoma, though it did lean a bit more. Just been unsure with the camper.

Am I insane? (FWC Hawk to pop-up shell)

I’m glad it’s helpful. If you haven’t found it yet there’s an Ovrlnd thread going here. You can see some different build approaches. https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/ovrlnd-campers-only-post-your-ovrlnd-camper-build-here-or-a-link-to-your-build-thread-to-inspire-others.229680/

Am I insane? (FWC Hawk to pop-up shell)

Likewise for us. ATOverland makes a real quality product, but the interior space difference is amazing in the Ovrlnd, especially on a full size truck due to the straight bedsides.

Am I insane? (FWC Hawk to pop-up shell)

Yes it does keep them out pretty well. My bed is very well sealed. You have to be a bit obsessive about that in this kind of camper.

    my camper/truck dilemma

I believe they have 12 step groups for this… Just saying!?

Am I insane? (FWC Hawk to pop-up shell)

Both of these issues are easily solvable. Dust: Spend an afternoon before you get the camper on obsessively sealing your bed and your tailgate. The tailgate seal kits are real helpful and you can use buytl tape/caulking in other voids and holes. Put a bedrug in. They’re highly durable, make the...

Not available 2022 OVRLND camper for 6.5 foot full-size bed $15K OBO

I was the alpha test on those. Found it on West Marine. Jay threw it on for me at install. Easy install, it works and has never leaked. https://www.westmarine.com/lewmar-cabin-hatch-vent-trim-kit-P024_720_004_502.html

Am I insane? (FWC Hawk to pop-up shell)

Nope, you’re not insane. You largely describe why I went with the Ovrland after being 90% off the way to an FWC flatbed on a 3/4 ton Ram (as in final test drive with a certified check for purchase in my pocket). You can make it what you want exactly.

Frame Strength, Who to Believe! The RV Sales Guy or the New Truck Dealer? Maybe Neither?

Nah, it was just about right! I think a lot of folks are getting sick of the youtubers publicizing and therefore trashing the great places we’ve been going for years after putting significant exploration effort into finding them. Building a 9,000lb desert racer and going that fast in that...

Realistic Capacity Margin for DOY LiFePo4 Setup?

Its the National Luna DC25 because I decided to go with their Powerpack to keep things simple and be able to easily remove the battery in the Phoenix summer heat as well as use it in two different vehicles. It also has a good MPPT solar controller built in. Been very happy with it for two...

Question for those that went from a 4R to a Taco/Tundra

Had an ARB 50 on my Tacoma for years in the bed with a hard shell tonneau cover. Moved it sometimes in to my 4Runner. No difference. IMO putting the insulated cover along with some extra insulation (reflectix, closed cell foam) makes the bigger difference. Just keep direct sun off of it.
