Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

    1. Buy a round, flat Neodynium magnet about the size of a nickle (they’re all over Amazon) and way stronger than magnetic catches. 2. Buy or get out your Forstner bit thats slightly larger than the magnet. They are worth having if you don’t already. 3. Using Forstner bit drill a nice flat...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

FWIW, I’m 6’3” and could easily stand on something 6 to 8” high and have plenty head room … popped up. The problem could be it‘ll be cramped with the top down and climbing in and out, especially with the traditional flip up back window vs barn doors. I went with a two level platform and a...

    Lithium Battery Heating Project

Great job! Helpful writeup. Question: I have my battery in a National Luna Powerpack box which is a tight fit, but there’s maybe 3/8 to 1/2” space around it. Is that type of heater thin enough to fit around in that space do you think?

You should also post this in the for sale thread too. DK if you look at WandertheWest.com at all, but there’s a guy there who’s been asking me questions and says he’s gonna buy an Ovrlnd after he sells his rig. He might want to pick up your deposit. Look under Truck Campers/Hallmark and Other.

Expedition Portal or Overland Journal, I can’t recall which, published a really comprehensive review of popups at the time, which was maybe 2-3 years ago. They definitely covered the AT Summit or Atlas. It got their Editors Choice award for midsize, but not fullsize trucks. They didnt like how...

Does Anyone Actually Use Their House Water for Drinking?

This ⬆️, but the real issue is Giardia. Ask any backpacker. ANY wild water in the US, with maybe the exception of snow/glacial water very close to the melt source is a very likely source. Most animals can carry it, and especially cattle. It doesn’t just give you the trots for a few days. Giardia...

Question on Logic of Swapping 20” OEM Rims on Superduty for 17” Rims

Will you ever be in sand or snow or muddy conditions? There are many situations where airing down and more rubber can help. In many cases it can get you unstuck where otherwise you’d need a tug. Washboard roads are the thing that I air down for religiously. Saves my truck, camper, and...

    Another-nother OVRLND camper build

So, how did the plan to leave it up work? I know Jay says not to, but I keep wondering. I have Jay’s version, and have wondered if I added Velcro on the bottom whether it would work. Does the top of the thermal material mate to the loop that Jay has installed that rests on the top rail bulb...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

I’ve found myself wanting some more flat spots for small items (phone/tablet, coffee cup or beer, small utensils while cooking inside, etc), so made two of these out of scrap materials. They clip into the bed slide rail or the 8020 of my cabinet, and are easily removed and stowed. Didn’t want...

    Tires for F-150 (Tread Chunking)

My E range Cooper AT3s XLTs on Tundra + camper (heavily loaded) and 15K miles of rough rocks and trails in the Southwest have stood up and performed exceptionally well. As good as Duratracks did on my Tacoma offroad and FAR better on the highway. Love ‘em!

Actually, it’s a very strong TIG welded 1/8” x 1x2” aluminum frame. The skins are VHB mounted and then riveted. It’s super strong and robust. We’ve rattled ours all over on terrible washboards and rolly, rocky trails with zero issues. The AT popups are well built too, and we looked at them, but...

Payback is a Beyotch Baby! Huge, Profitable Cat Converter Ring Busted! ?

Well, you would care if you lived where this is rampant and you had a popularly targeted vehicle. There’s a ton of folks jumping through hoops and spending on “general modifications” to protect their cats. Etching, plates added to the sides of skid plates, alarms, cages, etc. Just saying …
