This was posted recently on the “Overlandy Meme Thread“. Having seen a video of his in the past and thinking it was a well-built Tundra, I found these two videos about how this happened that are quite detailed and pretty interesting as to the cause and results of the event (along with being...
FWIW, I ran my ARB 50 qt fridge last summer for 5 days/4 nights in 70 to 85° daytime temps along with charging multiple devices, but no laptop, other 12v draws for lights, a heating pad and some low draw inverter use at one point. We ran our Maxxair fan often and all night on low. My fridge...
Yeah, think it’s exaggerated too. However, it works really well, largely because I completely covered my aluminum frame members and because there’s an air gap to the skin of the camper so the radiant barrier is effective. There’s also coroplast paneling covering it and the air channels in that...
i guess that barn houses the frame stretcher to get to 8’ and the pin setter for the bowling alley?? ?
I now see an 06 Tundra in your profile, but on this forum you can never tell what wild build somebody is doing …
I largely built my camper electrics with their stuff augmented here and there with good quality bits from Amazon. I also used them to make custom cables before I bought all the campers and tools needed to do my own.
Will Prowse’s website https://www.mobile-solarpower.com/ also has really good...
If you want a permanent install of the plate, you could VHB it AND add 2 -3 screws and Sikaflex caulk the edges. If you really want to 110% it, could add Eterna Bond tape on top of the plate, but you’ll likely never get it off, at least without a ton of work.
You can make very durable drawers that weigh next to nothing out of coroplast (plastic corrugated cardboard, essentially).
Here’s how it worked for my build:
Reminded me of a news story from years ago about a 132 y/o Winchester found leaning against a tree in Great Basin NP. Found this article about it on line...

This makes interesting reading:

It’s NASA’s report on their research into truck aerodynamics …. I kid you not.

I’ve been noodling on this for a while; have the 10” cabover so more wind resistance. Haven’t come to a conclusion yet, though.
The whole topic has been discussed well in this Wander the West thread, though not for Ovrlnds specifically...
LOL, big fail! After looking at a bunch on Amazon, I got this due to the three heat settings. wish it was a bit larger, but it’s been good. Works best under other covers/bag.

You might need less aggressive tires? I’m...
Congrats on the maiden voyage!
Mid 20°s is damn cold for our campers, especially with the roof insulation still to go.
Our coldest night so far has been 35ish. With roof insulation, the majority of the frame covered, the thermal pack on and no heat we were in the mid 40s in the morning. We...
Glad to hear its better than I've been led to believe. I still will not drink any wild water without treatment. Just not worth it to me.
You are so right-on re:mining impacts. Last summer we camped upstream from an old gold mining town in NE Nevada. Beautiful stream. Drove out through the town...
