So what's the sticker on these J8's?

The OJ review was good but 50K for an unassembled truck gives some pause. If you source out the assembly I'm guessing that would run another 15-20K. The one featured in OJ with the JK habitat and other mods must be getting about 80K. I could see Jeep offering the engine and some of the other...

So what's the sticker on these J8's?

I'm curious what the price will be on the J8 run that AEV is offering-read about them in OJ. I guess the "component " vehicle designation get's it past the DOT regs on airbags and 5mph bumpers and such so that is a big ?? on final cost but what are the guesses?

I can only imagine the looks he gets when he tells the other racers that he's running a Land Rover and then shows up with that!

Walking around lense.....What do you use?

I'm a Nikon guy and recently picked up a 16-85 f3.5-5.6 VR ED that I've been impressed with as a walk around lens. I gave up the longer range for a wider close range as I find my self using wide-normal range when I'm walking around and/or using the camera for casual shots. It's also smaller and...

Who else will be watching "From the Edge?"

I noticed the lack of gear talk as well. It seemed that the focus if the show was a little confused. The images where amazing-especially those from the observatory. Nice FJ40 as well.

Polling the experts on Disco XD

Of the XD's I've seen that one has the most decals applied, I'm guessing it was a dealer job. The flags give it a Camel Trophy vibe-even if they are on wrong-hey I guess in a mirror they look right!

    Rave CD, copy onto HD

Forgive the dumb question but is this the same CD ROM that has the multiple work manuals for a specifc LR? I've tried two of the CD ROM's from Atlantic British and neither would load the PDF's. I kept getting a pop up that the PDF was missing or damaged (or something like that). I really need a...

    lenses for nikon SLR (film)

I gotta agree with Mike-with a zoom in that range you really should use a tripod or at least monopod to stabilize the camera which also takes the weight problem off your hands. As nice as it is on your back to have light lenses the image quality suffers. When you compare shots from a 70-300...

    Series 2???? HELP

Looking at the picture of the rear and the rear cross member specifically I think your going to find a fair amount of rust in the frame, maybe it's just in the cross member and you'll get lucky.

    lenses for nikon SLR (film)

Which 70-300 do you have? The ED glass f4-5.6 is pretty light and compact. Going to the faster 80-200 f2.8 or the new 70-200 VRII f2.8 will be larger and heavier.

    Series 2???? HELP

Main issues are chassis and bulkhead-those are rust prone as they are steel-the rest is aluminum. If there are bad rust in either you'll be in or a lot of work as you will have to take it apart to get the bulkhead off. The bulk of it is still available after market and there are sources for the...

    Series 2???? HELP

The headlamps on the wings were added later, which is fairly common. Those appear to be 69 era wings as the headlamps look to be sticking out instead of flush mounted, the nickname of this era is "bug eye". Overall is looks to be a IIa 109 station wagon trim. I would guess it is a 64-66 but it is...

    Good moon shots this weekend

I just saw in the news that the moon is full and it's orbit is closest to us as it can be tonight and tomorrow. The moon should appear 14% larger and up to 30% brighter so this would be a good night for some nice big full moon shots. I'm thinking F8 and about 15sec?
