    El Camino Del Diablo: (2/23-26/2006)

I will check with my shotgun rider to verify that he received his. Mine arrived today, and I know his app. was sent out one day later than mine. BTW, Ed, I realized where you got the #14 exit from - that is where we are meeting the rest of the group at 10:30 am on Friday, which is in Yuma. I...

    El Camino Del Diablo: (2/23-26/2006)

:xxrotflma OK, for those camping on Thurs. night, let's just plan on meeting at the #30 exit at 5:30 PM. As the time draws near, we'll see if we can't scoot that time up a bit, but for now let's plan on 5:30 MST (AZ time). Scott, would you mind if I added the Thurs camp info to the 1st post...

Hola desertgirl! Good to hear from you!! Wow, please give my best wishes to the dude. I hope it all went smoothly, and I hope I get to help him test out the new equipment sometime, on a beautiful walk in the desert somewhere  Great update on the 80, it doesn't surprise me that you two...

    El Camino Del Diablo: (2/23-26/2006)

Hey now, that's a sweet update! :jumping: I have an outdoor "fireplace" with lid, but it is pretty bulky. I can probably bring it on the the roofrack unless someone else has a better setup. Mark, if you plan to get there on Thurs. night, we can monitor the CB - with the ultra flat terrain, I...

Lost Canadian, thanks so much for the info and pics. :ylsmoke: Regarding a diesel option, Scott and I recently spoke with a gentleman from Toyota USA and he basically said that Toyota is commited to very high emmisions standards for the US market, and until the current US regulations for...

Hopefully that doesn't scare anyone away! We may end up at the beach! :Wow1: :suning: Thanks Uwe, I was wondering about that since there were no data entries on the app. for that info.

    El Camino Del Diablo: (2/23-26/2006)

From the Cabeza Prieta NWR website... "To protect scarce desert wood, only charcoal campfires are permitted." I think we should use a fire pan and haul out our ash. If we do burn any wood outside of CPNWR, we should definitely bring our own. Scott and Al, you guys have done the trip before...

That will work Ed. I'll have a better idea on exact arrival time a few days before we leave, and we can discuss the best meeting time. Very cool! I can't wait to see your new trailer in person.

10-4. If you get your permits ahead of time, you probably shouldn't drive all the way into Yuma. I would just meet us in Wellton and sleep a little longer.

Ed, I will probably be arriving around 5pm at the earliest, so maybe it will be best just to meet up near the highway to avoid confusion. I can't seem to enter your coords into Google Earth. When I create a placemark and edit the coords, they won't "stick". Sorry.

Hey, no sweat. I agree. Do what you think is best. I imagine it will be warm enough during the day for some reptiles to be out and about. And the scorpions will likely be around too, be sure to check the underside of your ground cloth before you pack it away in the morning ;)

Yessir - el topo data es muy viejo. It looked to me like there was a bridge over the canal adjacent to the freeway. If you look at Google Earth, there are some bridges that cross the canal. (wait, you are using a Mac, right? Can you look at Google Earth?)

    El Camino Del Diablo: (2/23-26/2006)

Ed, I agree with what you said. I think we would probably have to exit at Wellton and backtrack towards the hills. We can just kind of play it by ear. Based on this though, we might need to skip the dinner in Yuma so we can use daylight to find a good campsite. What do you think? Brian, the...

Al, I am considering the eastern flanks of the Gila Mtns. just east of Telegraph pass. This would be fairly close to Wellton for the start of the trail on Friday morning.
