    Outdoor Photography Links

Scott, this site isn't entirely outdoor photography, but they do have forum sections on outdoor photography. There is lots of good info and discussion here with a forum, articles, and reviews. Anyway, I think it's a great site that you may want to add to the list. http://www.fredmiranda.com/

    El Camino Del Diablo: (2/23-26/2006)

I'll be attending the dinner on Thurs. night, and then heading towards the trail where I will find a place to camp. I'll just meet up with the group when they roll into the area on Friday morning. If anyone cares to join me for camping, feel free! I will be spending my hotel money on fuel for...

    tacoma suspension up grades

Just an "FYI" to keep in mind for heavy "expedition style" trucks: The Bilstein 5100 series uses a digressive piston that flows much more on compression so it usually makes for a smoother ride. More oil is allowed to pass through piston very quickly allowing the shaft to compress more easily...

    Mastercraft Seats

You would need to verify for yourself, but I think they would definitely be okay. The side bolstering is not so extreme that you become fixed in a forward position, and should make climbing in and out of a lifted vehicle not too bad. I think rotation of the torso would be comfortable & do-able...

    Mastercraft Seats

I just sat in one of the new Mastercraft "Baja RS" seats at the Off-Road Impact show. I am seriously considering getting a pair because these seats actually pivot forward and back, yet still retain the quality of a touring/off-road suspension seat. The one I sat in unfortunately did not have the...

    Electronic topo maps for Baja

I apologize for the assumption. Especially when you have previously mentioned your laptop setup! Sorry about that. Omnimap has the digital files available in 1:250,000 and 1:50,000. They aren't cheap, but at least they have them available digitally now.

    Carrying Two Spare Tires

A spare tire weighs a ton. I tend to agree with what Westy was saying - unless you really anticipate the need for some reason (lava or shale terrain, or off-road racing) OR if you have a GVWR that will easily support it, I think it's too much of a weight penalty. I also prefer to replace tires...

    Flyingwil's Taco is growing up!

Either one you choose - hard or soft (did I just say that?) I think portable instead of fixed is the way to go. A fixed panel really limits your options to capture the sun and has too much influence on how/where you park the truck.

    Optima Batteries....which one?

Based on what you said, I would get the Yellow Top. The Optima yellow top has plenty of cranking power for starting, and doesn't require the typical trickle charging. It can tolerate unlimited charge current so long as the heat threshold is not exceeded. Last time I checked, the specs on a...

    tacoma suspension up grades

P, To answer some of your other questions: 3A - This depends on what length shocks you end up with. One alternative to jacking the truck is to just take to to a gully or ditch on a trail, that you can drive into and max. out the suspension travel. Put the vehicle in 4wd, and leave it in 1st...

El Camino Del Diablo 2006 Rogue Trip

I used the ogg plug-in for Windows and used it with Winamp. WOW, very cool! I love the whole report and concept. Very cool. I didn't think it was too long though. I enjoyed it. I would say yes on the mic' improvement though. But very COOL!! That one d00d Jonathan really cracked me up talking...
