I've had the OME and the Donahoe setup. I prefer the coil overs for baja type driving over long distances because they don't heat up and fade.
If shock fade is not a concern or something that you notice I would certainly go with the heavy coiled OME.
If you do get adjustable coil overs you can...
I've seen this done by friends grandma! Her name is Marcella Sharbono. Baffled to this day how she could pop apples open effortlessly as we strong men just made messes!
5lb's is probably not enough and 20lbs is too much. There is the 10 or 11lb option that is just right :)
I have the tall skinny 11lb tank that is straight walled so it packs well without wasting space.
The extra volume over the 5lbs is worth it in case you want to camp longer or use a heater...
Wood, even dense wood is going to reduce condensation compared to metal.
Those with metal liners might consider rhino lining to help insulate the warm moist air from the cold metal.
I suspect that some of these issues are from propane heaters emitting a huge amount of moister into the air...
Maybe you can determine which was driven and maintained by the more mechanically adept driver?
Look at tire wear from alignment issues, quality of filters and oil used, pedal wear etc.

I am so excited that the popularity of overlanding is increasing:victory:
I remember my dad telling me stories of all the places he used to travel in Montana before the massive closings took place. I could tell it saddened him that I would never be able to experience the adventures he had...
I don't think so, If you want to keep the little guys out you have to spray the screen with repellent or modify the screen with an additional layer.
The stock screen is super strong and long lasting (but not fire proof!) plus its very breathable.
Going to a finer woven screen would make it...
Many people such as race car drivers can tell by the seat of their pants exactly what each shock is doing. Its kind of like being in tune with each muscle of your body.
Motorcycle riders get very good at this also because they are constantly adjusting their shocks and feeling the different...
There is a pretty good discussion going on about chains and airing down here:

Make sure you always have warm water proof clothing including boots and gloves, a shovel, hi-lift, axe, food, and fire starter!!
There is no perfect winter...
