    water storage under vehicle

I put a 12gal tank under my JK Wrangler. I have a Shurflow pump and 0.5 micron filter with UV treatment built in. It also has a digital depth gauge so I know how full it is, and can watch as I'm filling it up to see when it's about to overflow. I'm writing up a "DIY How-to" article on the whole...

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

I ran part of Hells Revenge yesterday, it was unreal. I went into the Escalator, did trail work with great people from Tread Lightly then turned around and came back out. I was told my Jeep would have gone right through, doing all the drive arounds obviously. AEV 2.5", stock Rubicon 32" tires...

Agree. I'm undecided yet if I'll make walls for it out of solid canvas, or bug netting, or maybe even carry both. There will be walls of some kind. -Dan

    New Jeep decision help....

The TJ I drove 40k miles from Alaska to Argentina was a four banger, and it was awesome. It never had a single mechanical issue, and that motor is known to be bullet proof. Sure, it's slow going, but a Jeep is not a racecar. -Dan

HOW-TO: DIY Jeep Wrangler JK Hood Lock Install

All Jeep Wranglers need a lock for the hood to stop prying fingers getting at the goodies in your engine bay. As a bonus, the Painless kit comes with a switch and the details so you can be in control of when the batteries are connected, and when they are isolated (it's a three...

Thanks everyone for the support! Nice! I should be into Morocco in May or early June, and will spend roughly 1 year heading South on the West Coast, then roughly one year heading North on the East. I'm going without a Carnet, and it sounds like Kenya might be the only country I won't be able...

HOW-TO: DIY JK Wrangler Dual Isolated Batteries

Isolated dual batteries are a must in any Overland vehicle. The setup looks complicated and difficult in photos, though it’s actually very simple. Having two batteries means one can be used only to start the vehicle (let’s call this battery the “Engine Battery”) and the other can be used for all...
