Keep a small note pad on you and write down the data of your shots, that will help you learn what settings look best to you for the conditions. With a DLSR you can immediatly check your results so determin if the setting you picked where good and what making a change or two does to effect the...
The closest to the G11 from Nikon is the P100 coolpix. It has more range optically, a slightly larger screen I'm not sure if the manual functions are more or less and I am pretty sure it doesn't shoot in RAW. It's also larger than the G11 but it's well shaped to fit your hand.
Moving to full frame (FX) ?
The 17-55 f2.8 is very tempting but I'm more tempted by the D700 and so I'm saving up for that. Nice collection-all that is missing is the 70-200 f2.8 VR
This has been an interesting thread! I'm going to see if anyone I know here has a SS that I can try. As I mentioned before I'm a roadie and have not kept up with the MTB development. I see the weight race has hit the dirt now, when I starting riding a light road bike was just under 20lbs!
Wow...8 pages for fridges, only on ExPo!
Interesting twists that got almost tennis match like at one point. I'm glad it all worked out in the end. After reading all 8 pages I wish I had the need for one of these but I just don't at the moment. Man, I've got to start cruising the GSI auction...
Never tried a SS, sounds fun. I've built fixies and spent some time on the track so I get the one gear thing. Having a freewheel and brakes would be a bonus.
I'll have to check the spacing of the drop outs but building my trek as a SS might work-and save some $$. The steel frame is nice and...
Thanks for the help, I like the 29er idea and I do see mostly FS around here so I guess that's the best set up for this area. Sure will beat a rigid 16 yr old Trek!
I've been wanting to do more MTB for a while. My 94 Trek 870 is a bit out of it's league these days so I've been looking around. The terrain around here is mostly flat and swampy, there are often ravines and drops in the woods but no real long climbs. This is a pine forest area so there are...
Nice looking 80, looks like you've got a good start on the build as well.
For ETN info I'd pm a guy in Nashville named Dendy-his handle here is Nashville Rover. I'm way over in ENC but I am familiar with Tellico which has more than heavy krawling trails-there are trails for every level/purpose...
Is he thinking of a total powertrain swap or does he intend to keep the RRC tranny?
I've heard of some sources of custom plates to attach a Rover tranny to other source engines but I can't put my finger on the names right now. One source is in England IRRC.
I'm assuming he measured the Izuzu...
No, I meant do you want to expand your knowledge and skills, would you like to be able to have manual controls of your exposures, that kind of stuff. i was leading to not looking at a camera as way above your ability now but more like it allows you a lot of room to grow. Since your in the...
Where do you want to take your photography? The Cannon G's are well liked and do have a lot of function that all levels can be happy with. The G9 gets great reviews and it seems to me is preferred more than the G11. If the price tag gives you pause checked out BH Photo and Adorama as they have...
I know many of us upgrade out audio and my Sony deck just died on me. I was wondering if anyone has a factory unit taking up space that you might want to sell.
My radio stopped receiving, the CD player works and I get hiss from the speakers with the tuner on. I pulled apart the dash last night and checked all connections and wires and could not find a problem so either the tuner part of the stereo is gone or I have a break in the connection where the...
When I was researching Series Rovers before I bought my IIa, I read an article the also mentioned that Land Rover owners are for the most part romantics which is why we "get" these trucks. People who don't use emotion when making decisions would only see the flaws and risks and never buy one...
In the link for the place that makes new frames they mentioned they shipped them raw so the customer could powder coat or galv the frame. I don't recall it being mentioned as much as it is on Rover forums. In the threads I've seen on resto's it seems that frames get painted and/or POR'd.
