    my classic for sale

Just 3 questions. What price are you going to ask, and does it have working AC. I didn't see a compressor on your video. If there is no AC, with the large radiator, would there be room for a condensor?

    Redneck Cooling system pressure tester

I wish I could have found one. Autozone and Oreillys loan-a-tool testers had nothing even close to a fit. They said I would have to order a european kit (mucho$$$$). I did order a new cap. I think I'll be modifying the old one with a long valve stem to accomplish the same thing without...

    Redneck Cooling system pressure tester

Yesterday my truck developed a coolant leak that is in close quarters at the rear of the motor. I checked the local parts houses loan-a-tool for a tester, but none had an adapter that would fit my Disco. After returning home, I saw an old bicycle tube in the garage. It stretched over the tank...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

That looks great and is a cool color choice. What brand of paint is it? Do you have the paint code for it, or is it a one off mix?

    The Flip Flop Winch

Sorry guys, I didn't realized the link was causing problems due to the drop box works. Here is a screen shot of the doc I was liking to. Click onthe pic to magnify. http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb443/Alan_and_Scheryl_Wood/927cff4e.jpg

    The Flip Flop Winch

I was going thru some old files the other night and found this plan for improvising a winch using two logs and rope. http://db.tt/AfhE6ux Has anyone ever tried this? It looks like a workable concept. This supposedly was used by the British army in WWII.

    thinking of a discovery

Pros: Great road manners, great comfort and ride. Can seat 7 (if equipped w/ jump seats and 2 are small). Very capable off road (be sure to get a model with cdl). Great visibility. Cons: Expect about 16 mpg max. I average 13 city/hwy. No tolerance for delaying preventive maintenance. If it...

    Trasharoo Question

This is a favorite part of our kit. Ours is black. It stays on all the time. I told my wife, it isn't faded, it's patina!. I keep recovery gear in the bottom and a liner on top. Bunge cords and wet stuff goes in the mesh pockets. We bought a large mesh bag that I attach under the flap...

    Surplus drawer, cabinet, table system

I used one of these without the drawers for many years and it worked great. Everything stayed nice and dry in the truck bed. They are heavy though. I just recently sold it at the CO swap meet.

    Budget overland Disco build

We just returned from a 10 day trip to Arkansas that was the shakedown cruise for the box. It worked great! It held all our essentials (organized in ziplock bags) except food. I had put a piece of clear vinyl tubing over the locking bar. This in addition to the ziplock bags prevented any...

    LR3/DII/Tahoe

I forgot to put this in the previous post. I've been told on the LR3, clutch or trannie work is crazy expensive because the body has to be unbolted and raised to remove the transmission. Don't treat this a gospel until you check on it, but it was mechanics down at SCARR that were saying it.

    So I Want a D2 (Jeep Owner)

As my kids say, "It's time for Dad to be the wet blanket". Having been in your shoes before, and having made many stupid, and I mean STUPID mistakes, I just want to throw a couple of things in the ring. Your XJ is already modified very well for off roading. The similar one I had got 19MPG...

    LR3/DII/Tahoe

I have an 04 DII and love it. It's as capable as my old FJ40 or CJ-6, and as comfortable as my Suburban on the road. Just heed the mantra "preventive maintenance". I purchased it with 43k on the clock, and the head gaskets were starting to weep. I changed them and the valley pan gasket, and...

    Water storage solution

I have hung them, laid them in the floorboards and truck beds, and on roof racks with no leaks. They are very tough and not picky about their position. The one in the first pic of this thread has been hanging there for almost 4 months (except for being taken down to be filled) with no problem.
