Show me your best rover modification.

They are P38 steel wheels. I was told they were the spare tire wheel on those trucks. I just happened to fined a guy with 5 of them. They are a very heavy duty wheel. Pretty much like the wolf wheels without the holes.

Show me your best rover modification.

Getting rid of the 255 55r 18 tires and going to 235 85r 16's. There is a much greater selection for 16" wheels and the tires are quite a bit cheaper. I didn't trust the stock tires in the rocks. For myself, the 235's are the perfect size for my truck. I got the Goodyear Wrangler Authority...

    Water storage solution

I don't know anything about the pool bladders. I do know the military bladders are super tough and made for drinking water. Mine have ridden many rough miles laying in floorboards, truck beds, and now hanging from my spare. Never had one leak. They are rubber reinforced with cord almost like...

    Budget overland Disco build

I've had this beast for a year now and decided to document the slow but cheap build. I try to make my purchases as deals come along and that helps a lot. I started with a stock 04 DII. I added 2" spring spacers and 235 85r 16 Wrangler Authority tires on stock P38 steelies. I traded an old...

Extended warranty worth it for a Landy?

Since it's an "03 check the VIN to see if it is in the range of the ones for oil pump failures. If it is, buying the warranty is a no brainer.

    Firestone tires

I've read many reports of the compund getting harder as the tires age and chunks of the tread lugs start breaking off. That's why I stayed away from them.

    Water storage solution

I've been trialing this for three months and so far it's worked out great. I've been using these Swiss Military water bladders for years with great success. They are rated at five liters but I fill them to almost 2 gallons with no problem. After receiving my Trasharoo, I got the idea to hang one...

    DI v.s DII

I have an '04 D2 with 59k miles. Head gaskets started weeping at 43k and I changed them. I put a throttle body heater kit on at 56k. That's been the only problems. It's been a gem on and off road. I installed 2" spring spacers and 255 85r 16 tires on steelies. Other than that, it's...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

We just spent the week in the Tx hill country with both weekends at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Saw these in and next to the barn by the exit. Two series 88 LR's and one 110. From what I could tell it didnt look like they had any major rust issues. It's a shame to see them just wasting away.

    Winch Question

At least you have your old solenoid for a spare. That's not a bad thing to have.

    Winch Question

Check for 12v on the connection from the battery to the solenoid. It sounds like the solenoid is working. When you hit fwd or rev with the controller, check for 12v on the connection from the solenoid to the winch. If you have 12v there, it may be the winch motor.

    Front end clicking noise?

It's probably one of the axle cv joints. First, jack up the front end and shake the tires up and down and side to side to check the unit bearings. If they are ok, remove the front driveshaft and lock the cdl. Drive it this way, and if the clicking disappears it is the drive shaft . If you...

    235 85's on a DII?

That's what I'm running on P38 steel wheels and I love them. They work great. I put in 2" spring spacers and everything clears and rides just fine.

Land Rover Discovery II tires and wheels

1 set of five Land Rover tires and wheels off a 2004 Discovery II. These are the 18" factory Hurricane wheels. 4 of the tires are 255 55r 18 General Grabber UHPs. These have .215" of tread. That's almost 1/4"! The spare is a 255 55r 18 Goodyear Wrangler HP. This tire and wheel is like new. The...

    Mission Critical Parts for Trip!

Fuses!! I just found out the other night if you blow the brake fuse it has the same effect as a bad brake switch when it comes to getting the beast out of park. Or, just don't hook up to any junky borrowed trailers like I did.
