Sorry I didn't post this with the last post. MSRP is $350 for the Awning Extension. Per usual, if you place your order through me you can take 10% off that for the forum discount.
Good news! Awning Extensions have arrived!! Those of you who are on the waiting list, I will need your information as soon as it's convenient for you. Then we can get them shipped out right away. You can get me the information by emailing me at atolman@tepuitents.com or send it to me in a PM...
That is a better, more accurate description of what I was trying to say. I agree with what you are saying about many of the "tools" we are familiar with are gaining more widespread acceptance in the outdoor world. Roof tents are one of those things that have taken off within other groups, such...
Beowulf, you may have seen my reply to your post in the Tepui Baja Series thread regarding weight. I stand corrected about the weight comparison between the Yakima and the Baja Series. If the Yakima has a total weight of 90lbs, the Baja Series is just slightly heavier at 102lbs but with a much...
Kurt (our warehouse guy) just built his own Baja Kukenam tent and it came in at 119 lbs, as mounted on his Passat. He also included the Anti-Condensation mat, which is 17 lbs, so that will bring the Baja tent at around 102 lbs!
As for the canopy itself, it weighs in a just below 6 lbs.

I was able to take a closer look at these at the Outdoor Retailer show as well. Yakima's entrance into the RTT (car camping) scene is a sure sign that overlanding and car camping is becoming mainstream for sure. Here's my observations. It's much lighter duty than most other RTT offerings on...

I think the zipper should be treated "as needed". No need to over do it if it it's working well. If it feels like it's a bit "gritty" or isn't zipping smoothly, then some dry lubricant like graphite can work well. Some like to use a wax spray. Personally I lightly spray a bit of WD40 or...
Good stuff, and thanks for posting the feedback and questions. Here's my input, first with the cover straps. The cover straps aren't designed to tightly hold the cover down, nor are they meant to. Their purpose is more about limiting the amount of "billowing" that happens with the cover while...
Interesting article by Outside Magazine on tough outdoor focused duffle bags. Pretty good list here and I've tried several of these. I continue to be a HUGE fan of the Tepui duffle that is also part of this article and performed extremely well...
I actually use silicone spray as a lubricant for mine. I haven't noticed that dust sticks to it any more than usual so that might be worth a try. But if you think you have it lubricated properly, I find that it often more of an issue of having the zippers lined up correctly when there is...
The "White Lightning" Hardshell was extremely popular this past week at the Outdoor Retailer show in SLC, Utah. In fact it was given numerous BEST IN SHOW AWARDS. This is going to be an incredibly versatile tent with the integrated rack system. It definitely got a lot of attention!

Take a look at my recent post in the main Tepui thread. Sounds like the new Baja Series would be a great solution for dealing with that heat/humidity. Interchangeable canopies. Can be retro fitted to your current tent.
