Overall, I'm happy with them. The Goodyear MTR Kevlar is still my first choice for tires. The MTR has performed the best in all the conditions I typically find myself with the exception of hardpack snow/ice. They need to be siped to help them in this area.

We were later in the day than we had intended with lots of ground still to cover. We had planned on camping near Escalante that night so we had a quick lunch and drove hard to make it to Escalante.
The following day was Sunday and our last day of travel. The plan was to make it all the way to...
By the time we got back to the trucks temperatures were in the 40's and the road that had been frozen the night before was a sloppy mess. I thought we'd probably need to use the Maxtrax a couple of times but never needed to. This was the first real offroad testing with my new tires, Mickey...
Saturday morning we made the hike into The Wave. None of us had ever been there before and we were all impressed with the beauty and incredible formations in the sandstone.

We made a brief fuel stop in Fredonia then headed farther east to find a place to camp near The Wave on the UT/AZ border

The road to The Wave had been extremely wet and muddy but on our way in it was dark and freezing so the road was solid but badly rutted. It was a bit like driving a...
We left Toroweap and drove up SR109 toward Fredonia

Soon the snow cleared and we had a solid road base. Made for a quick 80mph run into Fredonia.

I'm putting a route together for a longer trip with a group later this spring that covers a lot of ground in Southern Utah, but we might include some in Arizona as well along the North Rim.
Two of my brothers in law and one of their brothers joined me this past weekend to do a bit of...
The is the 2-person Tepui Ayer on an older Forester at 48" long. So add 8" to the length of this and that's how the larger 3-person Kukenam/Autana models would fit. Stepping up the larger XL 4-person models with a 4x6' closed footprint would be adding a full 24" to the length of what is in...
Got to play along the Utah/Arizona Border over the weekend. Fantastic trip with lots of snow, mud, ice, a little bit in the rocks. It was a good shakedown for the Trail Tailor rear control arms that I installed recently. I'll be posting a short review on them soon. I also installed some of...
Hit 8* Friday night along the Utah/Arizona border near the Wave. I had a 30* NF bag inside another 30* NF bag and slept quite comfortably. Tent is a Tepui Kukenam XL Ruggedized.
I can't disagree that the 100 series for daily driving and towing is more comfortable than an 80 series. If you like to typical "overland" style driving which is generally easy to moderate level dirt roads and trails the IFS of the 100 will also be more comfortable, generally. That said, the...
You'll gain some space with any model Cruiser (wagon) you choose. It's not a huge difference in space but definitely better. In terms of trail capability, a 100 series will be similar to your 4Runner mainly because of the IFS design. An 80 series is arguably more capable with solid axles...
Roughly 230-260 miles per tank normally I think. I don't ever run it totally empty so that's the mileage where I usually fill it up. Depends on how I drive it.
Gotcha. Fortunately lots of good information out there on dealing with just about anything these trucks including leaks. As for the condition of my truck, it's not bad but by no means is it a pristine example void of issues. I've got my own list of things that need help still. I need to...
Security hardware of some kind is a good suggestion. I've also seen a few who have replaced the mounting hardware with eyebolts (eyes at the bottom) with a padlock run through the eyes.

FWIW, Tepui is actively looking at theft deterrent solutions.
